One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

great golf course but playing this time a year can be difficult with the dormant grass and fast greens. In my opinion it is the best value as any public golf course in the Plano Texas area.
Slow pace of play
Course was great. Greens were beautiful. Pace of play Slow. Got stuck behind a group of 4 that were taking 20 minutes to play a hole. It took 3 and half hours to play 12 holes so I wasn't able to play the full course which sucked. Course was pretty and well kept though.
Terrible Pro Shop, Great Starter on Tee
Had a terrible experience on this day. Questionable 1 hr frost delay. Then I went to pay and was told I had no choice but to pay for a cart even though I was walking. The guy at the counter indicated it was for pace of play to pick up. Well the patient play was 5 hours and it took till 11 to 13 minutes on each shot. $60 for a muni and rude service? The funniest part is by the time we came around the turn they had run out of carts for other people bc they had forced so many people to take them out. I used 5o really enjoy this place but will not be back until some policy changes are made.
Little to no grass; cut too short
Have played this course several times and enjoyed it. However, it's been mowed so short that fairways were down to the dirt/mud in Winter-- was easier to hit from the rough! Will come back in Spring when its green and reasonably playable.
Good condition for winter
Considering the time of year we were pleased with the greens and course conditions. Greens were rolling well.
PH 1-15-23
Greens are always in good shape. Some thin lies but that's to be expected when the grass is dormant. Always enjoy playing there.
Where's the Marshall??
First time playing this course. Was very excited to try it out. $55 for a round and cart isn't bad, the only downside is there isn't a Marshall checking tee times. I got called to the box and a group of 4 jumped in front of me, reporting the Golf pro told em just go ahead and play. 2 of the golfers hadn't checked in or paid. I wish they were a Marshall to keep the pace of play reasonable. We were waiting 8 minutes for them to finish putting on the green. If yall see these guys beware.
Oh and somebody's donkeys got out slowing down pace of play once more.
Great Value
Played in the early afternoon and was able to finish before dark. There are a few cosmetic needs, but great layout and enjoyed the round!
