Pecan Hollow Golf Course
About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Good Day
My friend and I were paired with a father/son duo. They were the nicest people you could ever hope to be paired with. The course conditions were very good; pace of play was excellent as we finished just under 4 hours! For late July the weather was mid 90’s with occasional cloud cover. In North Texas, that’s great weather on July 31st! And to top it all off, I shot 89 from Blue Tees (instead of senior tees). I definitely could’ve shot 4 or 5 strokes lower too!
This Course has Great Features
Very nice course on a hot day with lots of shade. Friendly staff too! Excellent condition ❤️ we will come back often
Excellent course!
Excellent course! Fast greens, GPS golf carts, return to fairway / cart path lockout on golf carts, excellent range, putting green and short game area. Course is usually crowded but as expected in Dallas area.
My favorite all around course
It looks and feels almost like a private club, the little details are great, like a ball/club cleaner on the golf cart. The grass is well maintained and there are a lot of shade trees.
A few courses are a bit cheaper but this is the best value.
Improved 2025
Pecan Hollow continues to be an amazing course. Despite the heat, the course was green and firm. Some of the t boxes felt like concrete when trying to place your tee, but that was my only complaint. A mostly straight course with little external noise other than the wind and wildlife. Go find all the balls I lost.
