Pecan Hollow Golf Course

About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Play this course regularly and it’s normally in good shape. However this time, extremely wet around the fairways, without heavy rain on the previous days. Turn down the watering in the winter.
Very Disappointed
This is a poorly marshalled and scheduled course. Groups were scheduled too close together. Groups were too big. Hurry up and wait too much. Toward the end of the day, 2:00 or so. People were paying for 18 holes knowing you wouldn't finish. Rain checks should be given out for unplayed holes. I won't be back.
Great day but the golf cart gps system needs to be adjusted. The cart locked up multiple times while we were on the cart path.
A&M > TU
Good practice area, probably the best I’ve seen for a public course. Layout and condition is fun. Pace of play is bad.
Amazing greens and fantastic value!
Such a solid course! The value here is amazing and the greens are as best as any course in DFW.
Love the course, no marshall to regulate slow play
I’ve been playing PH for decades. I love the course and the greens are excellent!
The only downside was no marshall on the course to monitor pace of play. I was stuck behind a foursome that had no business playing from the back tees and ended up being close to a 5 hour round on a weekday afternoon.
Other than that, I would definitely recommend playing Pecan Hollow!
One of my favorites in the area.
I played this course in October when we were here visiting our son. I really liked it and asked if we could play it again. We played the blue tees and it’s definitely challenging. We played it yesterday and playing it again today. Very fun!
Great Value Golf
Course and practice areas are very good for a public course. The “restaurant “ and dining area are average at best, but if you’re just there for an enjoyable round of golf, this course doesn’t disappoint. One word of caution, because it is one of the better public courses in the area for the money, pace of play is very slow.
Good Shape
Had a 12:45 tee time and finished in 4hours and 38 minutes. It was slow at times. Course was in very good shape. Greens were great.
One of the best public courses in DFW
Played Sunday morning, snuck in 18 just before it started dumping down rain. Course is in extremely well kept condition. Greens were perfect, fairways were in very good condition. Course is very playable I would not go so far as to call it easy but definitely not a hard course to play. I recommend anyone looking for a very nice course, to come play here.
