One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.

The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.

Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Good, BUT......

Love, love loved this course the first time I played it a couple of months ago and started playing it at least once a week. At first would always play on the weekends...pace was good...greens and fairways were nice. The only problem I have with this course is on the weekdays the pace of play is terrible. Me and my buddy can usually get out there on a Saturday around 4 or 5 and finish before it even gets dark. But every time we get out there on a weekday around 5 or 6 we can never finish because we always get stuck behind slow players who don't have the courtesy to let us play through. Have never seen a course marshal and you will barely ever see a cart girl, if at all. I'll give it one more shot on a weekday, but if we can't finish i'll just stick to playing this course on the weekends. Overall I love this course it is one of my favorites in the area and I've played some of my best golf here.

Perfect Pecan

Pecan Hollow was fantastic to play. The fairways are well maintained and the greens are in tremendous shape. The layout is fair and pleasing to the eye. The clubhouse staff is very friendly. The practice range is well maintained also. The beverage cart attendant did a great job coming around regularly. The ONLY issue-we teed off at 2:15 on Saturday afternoon and did not finish until 7:25 pm. A marshal to monitor pace of play would be helpful. We look forward to playing Pecan Hollow again soon!!

Great as Always

Another great weekend of golf. Played Saturday and Sunday and both days were just fantastic. Got paired with two fun twosomes each day. Always look forward to playing here on the weekends.

Decent course

The staff member at the pro shop was not happy to be there it seemed, maybe said 2 word to me the entire time. The starter was pleasant and friendly. I was pleased with the tee boxes and fair ways, but the greens need to be maintained. They have so many dark spots in them. The ball bounces all around when putting. Definitely thing too improve at the course because some of the wholes are very nicely designed.

Everyday is Saturday

My buddy and I live in N FtW and like to play a variety of course. Typically, in Tarrant Co.

A guy where my friend works recommended Pecan and said the greens were great! We went ahead and booked a tee time and was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable fee (plus). Had rain the night before our tee time so it was Cart path only! But it didn't really slow our pace which was about 4:15 mins (plus). The layout was really fun and forces you to his the ball both ways off the tee. Greens were really nice and rolled true even with some of the POA. Great value and a really good course!

Playable

Average condition. Starting to have some weed problems on the greens. If something isn’t done soon they are going to have a big problem. Worth the $32 price tag, but nothing stellar.

Nice layout...wide open

1st time playing...good layout...room for errors. Paired up with local and that helped

I would play it again when in plano area.

Greens were rolling good and it was a busy day and the pace was still good.

played in gail force winds

Could not keep my hat on. Watched 2 trees get blown down. Still had a blast and managed to pick clubs well and play ok. Course was in pretty good shape. Greens had some Poa, but you could see the grass was coming in thick and even.....will transition the Poa out.
