Decent municipal
As a beginner, found the fairways wide and forgiving,I'd only played smaller 9 holes so seemed a long course for me but nothing too scary, course and greens in decent nick, was quite busy, minor hold ups every now and then but there was a 3 ball in front of our pairing, will be playing again
Pace of play
The course is good! Greens were good! Some were fast and some were slower than others. Pace of play was terrible, there was to many people on the course and there for 4 ball in front of me and my friend. We were a 2 ball and they didnt let us play through. Other than that it was good and would play here again
Good course
Nice greens and fairways. Tees are in very poor condition
Pretty good course
The course is pretty good with a decent layout. It could do with a bit more maintenance but it is huge so understandable that it not pristine everywhere.
Nice course
Played at the end of June and the course was in very good condition. The fairways could have been cut a little shorter and been a bit faster but everything else was great. We really enjoyed our round and would definitely play again.
Not as good as it was
Played the course 20 years a go it was a lot better then than today needs more work do to it bunkers & green's need a lot of work .
Arrowe park Birkenhead
Friendly staff, lovely course well played out, really enjoyed the golf today looking forward to Golf Wednesday again next week
Hackers
While I understand that it’s a council course and that it caters for all levels of player but having a Tee time booked there doesn’t seem to be any control over who actually plays and what thine you are down to tee off. We tee’s off after a 2 ball and they were behind two 4 balls. One of those 4 balls walked off! and yet the 2 ball in front of us didn’t catch the remaining 4 ball. Prime example of how poor they were, I was putting out on the 7th and almost got hit by a wayward tee shot from the 9th and no 4 was shouted! The 2 ball in front of us kept standing or dropping the golf bags on the greens and one of them took 4 shots from a par 3 and hadn’t got passed the red tee!
Sometimes players need to realise that going to a driving range and maybe paying for a couple of lessons will help them, because hacking at a what is a very good course will ruin it for those playing behind you.
Nice Drives, easy walking on course
1st time I've played here, primarily to practice after medical treatment I'm receiving, was presently surprised, after alot of rain previous 2 days. previously booked it for Tuesday 1st october , but the course was waterlogged, club informed me in advance of closure due to conditions by phone, which saved me a journey from Hoylake. So we'll worth the afternoon on a well kept course.
Excellent Course
Although rain stopped play, we enjoyed the course. Some standing water but overall a very good course.
Great muni
Played here for the first time in 30 years yesterday; it is, I think, the only 18 hole municipal on the wirral now so it was pleasing to see it in good condition and being well used. The fairways are extremely generous but the mature woodland gives the course some definition. Although the course is generally open there is OOB on the perimeter of the course (and internal OOB for the practice area) which is best avoided! Greens were good if a little slow, bunkers generally OK but a bit hit and miss. All things considered it was above average for a public course. Pace of play was poor but we were behind the regular Wednesday morning ladies and seniors. The on site cafe offers cold drinks and snacks and the chap in the shop was helpful and friendly. Excellent value at £20.
