Don’t waste your money
Start with the positives, staff and members all very polite and kind! Shop well stocked, pace of play great. Food and bar area seemed very hospitable.
The negatives: the sun has done a real number on the tee boxes and fairways, although this was not the only issues with conditions. Bunkers had varying amounts of little to no sand in and the edges of the bunkers poorly kept. The greens had been machined at some point to keep them in good condition, which is usual practice for courses looking to keep them good, however the tram lines on the greens made reading putts pointless. Missing three footers for birdies was a formality as the ball jumped and skipped everywhere. Crowned holes that don’t look to have been cut in weeks. Many of the greens had holes in? Not sure why. I get that the weather can’t be helped, and it makes the job of the greenkeepers (who were very visible to be fair) exceptionally difficult, but the club clearly needs to invest in their course, because a greenkeeper can only do what they can with the resources provided. To say it felt like a municipal would be fair.
Testing course for its size
I would recommend this course to anyone, our 3rd time playing and it gets better!
Good way start to the day off with a breakfast at the club house. The food was really nice.
Staff were very friendly & helpful especially as one of the group forgot their golf shoes!
Overall course rating was good however the tee boxes had not been cut which is the reason for the 4 stars.
Very nice & testing short course, 100% worth a visit.
Wirral Golf Course
Played here three times over the last few years, greens are always outstanding, especially for the green fees paid.
Only a short little course, Par 68, but have to be accurate off the tee as there are a few narrow fairways along tight tree lines.
Will definitely be returning here again soon, one of my favourite little gem courses in the local area.
It’s worth playing on to putt on the greens alone.
Really enjoyable round
Lovely little course in good condition. Friendly staff and members and good food in the pleasant clubhouse. Play a bit slow but it was a Bank Holiday so the course was very busy. I just wish it was in Sefton so I could join as a member and play more often !! 😂
Really good course
Really good course for this time of year. Overall course layout is tight as expected for a short course with some fairway crossovers and tee boxes in close proximity.
Course held up well considering the weather conditions however it did have some standing water in places.
Playing 5000 yards off the yellows but with the wind it felt a lot longer!
Best local course
Played for around the 5th time. Always in great condition. Highly recommend this course to anyone
Great little course
Only short but in great condition and a testing layout. Really nice set up and friendly staff both in Pro Shop and the bar. Definitely worth a look.
Review
Course was in great condition considering I’ve never played here before. Unfortunately the pace of place was very slow, 2 ball took 4 hours 30minutes to get round due to players in front not letting ourselves through once they had lost a few holes.
Great round, nosey members
Enjoyed it, but once again asked by a member if we had booked a tee, it’s absolutely none of their business, they should mind their own.
Wirral Gc
Very nice course. Seemed short at 5k yards but fairways cut cleverly to give it some degree of thought and challenge. Greens were excellent.
Clubhouse and pro shop very good and all staff very friendly and welcoming. Members we chatted with were
Great too.
Needs another visit now we know the layout.
Recommend you give it a go.
Considering how much rain we have had, the course was in good condition. Only a handful of boggy areas on the course. But that is to be expected. The greens were in fair condition but all dry. Friendly Pro and bare staff. I'm looking forward to playing Wirral again after more dry weather and a full course.
Great course
Probably one of my favourite courses-always in good condition, greens always well kept and great staff-lovely food and bar is great-course pro Sean is an absolute diamond
