The Club at Los Rios
About
The Club at Los Rios opened in the early 1970s with a Don January and Billy Martindale design that takes advantage of eight small ponds and a creek that winds through the layout.
Water is in play on over half of the holes, including the opening 485-yard par 5 that features two ponds in play off the tee, and another fronting the green.
Two very difficult holes stand out on this narrow, shot-maker’s course. No. 7 goes 431 yards but allows for a huge tee shot with a generous fairway, which will definitely help on the dicey approach over the creek into a shallow green. On the par 5 No. 14, water crosses the fairway three times from the back tees.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Pkwy. east until it dead ends at Los Rios Blvd. Turn left onto Los Rios Blvd. And continue on for 1 mile to Country Club Dr. Turn right and drive a short distance to the course–look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

It was good experience!
I've purchased the hot deal 1 player only, grass was well maintained some pins were not on place cause of wind but I enjoyed.
Fun course...bad staff
We only play this course when we need back to back times early on a Saturday...and they reaffirmed that this Saturday...booked it for 26 on Golfnow, once we got there, the pro shop guy informed us it would be 46 per person and insinuated that we would just have to deal with it....half the pro shop is an e-cig vapor shop...classless and rude....the greens they advertise as new are not good. We will NEVER play this course again.
new greens are great and will be even better with a little time
new greens are great and will be even better with a little time and they have put some money into fixing other areas of this course... more work needs to be done in a few areas, but they fairways and greens are in excellent condition... hate the new propane golf carts... why loud/smelly propane...
Not Bad...
This was my first my first time playing this course. It was a good experience. Having read the horror reviews, I was a little apprehensive. The clubhouse was dated but functional. The greens were just completed, hole #9 that morning, which made for a pleasant experience. They seem to be putting some effort toward bringing the course quality up. My only complaints would be the tee boxes and the fairways. Several tee boxes are worn down and grassless. Some faiways were like hitting off of concrete. Overall, I give it a C+, trending up. With the GolfNow value cost of $8.99/with cart, I give it a B+!
Brand New Greens Are Great
I was welcomed cordially with my Golf Now voucher and paired up with 3 other players. Was told the new greens have been open about 3 days - and "they are coming along".
This was my first time back to Los Rios in about a year - what a difference! Fairways mowed nicely, tee boxes in good shape (except for one), and the new greens are rolling very well.
It's obvious the owners have put some money into this operation - I found the overall conditioning to be on a par with many of the better courses in the metroplex.
I thoroughly enjoyed my round here - I bet you will too.
This course has no great features
Staff was not professional. I was unable to t off at my t time because I booked thru golfnow. Staff allowed a walk on who wished to play by himself to t off at my t time. I arrived 30 minutes early and they would not allow me to t off early even with no one else starting for the entire 30 minutes, but they let the walk up on and allowed him to go in front of me at my scheduled t time..
New greens on course
They are putting new greens in and redoing a lot of the course, it's in playable shape now but with continued work and watering the course it should be in great shape next year. I don't agree with standard weekend rates but that's what they are charging.
Great course
Got on for 15 bucks as a single and met a group of really nice people I played the round with.
Deplorable Conditions, Despite Renovations
This review is a bit biased due to the fact that this round was played while renovations were being made to the greens. Only 6 new greens were available, leaving 12 temporary "greens." More or less, a portion of the fairways were cut shorter and a hole was placed in the middle. The "greens" were basically concrete and had no stopping capabilities on them.
Outside of the renovations, however, the entire course was dry as a bone, especially the temporary green and tee box areas. On the other hand, a few sections of the course (which weren't even part of any particular hole) were over-watered and swampy. The contrast was ridiculous and the overall maintenance of the course was deplorable.
Even at $15+fees for the round, it wasn't worth it. I will not be returning, even after the greens renovations are completed.
All greens were temporary.
I loved the old Oak trees to give it an old school feel. However, most of the holes were just straight away-- not framed very well. All of the greens were temperary and that might have accounted for lack of framing. The temp greens were bumpy to say the least and did not appear to be watered. The yardages were hard to determine and when I did hit a green the ball just bounced off as if I had hit it into the parking lot.
Temp Greens Fun
We received discount on early morning fees due to temporary greens but was fun to play less difficult hole positions. Wish wasn't so close to water treatment facility.
Flat and wide open
I knew the greens were being under construction and we would have temporary greens when I booked the reservation. The course is flat and wide open, which played great for two female beginner players. We shot an 85 and 90 in 3 hours and 10 minutes. Not bad.
The course had very good features.
this will be a very good and challenging course once their greens come from being under repair.
This course is subpar
Went to the course and found out once we got there that all the greens were being seeded. This should be something that is put on the website in bold. Plus the price for the course was ridiculous especially with the conditions. Also it was an absolute joke that there was a 40 yard par three. Would not recommend it to anyone.
course is under renevation
Course was berry easy and under renevation. Once that is done it looks like it will be a great course to play
Needs water badly!
Course is in poor shape and needs alot of attention.
Greens are being replaced.
Even with a super-discount rate, the course is not worth playing. Hopefully, replacement of the 'greens' will change my opinion.
Over priced for TEMP greens
I understand temp greens are a pain for any course renovating and wanting to keep people playing, but you can still ROLL THEM. You can also make up the difference by charging about half the $28 you got from me today. Seriously today's round was a waste of time ad money. The two positives - got out two hours earlier than planned, and got to visit PGA Superstore.
Under Construction
Not sure how fair a review can be on a course under construction. All the greens are being re-done so they are temporary right now. The course itself is very open and designed for ripping the ball. The course played shorter but was difficult because the temporary greens are tiny. They are expecting them to be back and ready by late Sept. However, considering I payed the same to play that I might pay for a bucket on the range, I got my moneys worth.
Nice layout but the Course is in Major Repair Mode
When I arrived I was informed that every hole had a temporary green. If I had know this up front; I would have passed on this place. All 18 greens were torn out, and the replacement period will be the end of September??? The whole layout was shortened to 4645 yds. from the regular tees. I would not recommend this Course to anyone until the Fall. They should have closed the place; or kept nine open; and then do the other nine.
