Bird Hills Golf Centre

I have played Bird Hills a number of times over the years and the quality of the course has gone down hill. The layout of the course is really nice however the quality of the greens, temporary tees and in particular the fairways are in really bad condition......muddy, sludgy. I also went the other day and the driving range was closed and it looked like you would be hitting your ball into a very muddy field. I understand the time of the year however other clubs i play aren't in such bad condition.

The staff member when i got my tee time was perfectly pleasant but when i came back covered in mud, the air blow machine wasn't working and when i asked about it the staff member was extremely rude.

The only positive is the American Golf discount, staff were friendly and helpful.

My brother and I played Bird Hills Golf Course on Saturday 9th February 2019. We have played this course before about 3-4 years ago and enjoyed it then. After the rain we had on the Friday, the course was extremely wet and muddy. In addition to this, it was very windy which made playing conditions very testing. However, we enjoyed our round of golf and would come back to play this excellent layout in the Summer months. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants a fair test of golf without paying the earth. The Clubhouse is fantastic and would not be out of place in a more expensive golf course. Highly recommended.

There was a little bit of confusion at the start as I was bumped from my original tee time. there were a couple of 4 balls ahead but the pace of play was quite good. There is no knee high punishing rough here, so great if you get out of shape. The greens were acceptable for this time of year. For a ten quid round I can have no complaints. I shall return.

Played a 7:30am round the day after pretty much 24 hours of rain. Didn’t think the course would hold up and expected pretty much a bog and trudge round.

Couldn’t have been more wrong. The course was immaculate. Greens were quick but firm. Fairways were solid as well despite all the rain the day before.

Real testament to the ground staff at how well the course looked and played.

Enjoyed playing this course however it was very slow and we spent a lot of the time waiting on virtually every shot even though the course wasn't that busy.. The golfers at this course need to understand that if there is nobody playing ahead and they are holding people up behind, they should let the quicker golfers go through. Good facilities and friendly club. Was thinking about joining but I don't want the same experience again

Played a four ball,course had enough to challenge all of us

The booking was on thier system, the starter was very friendly and cheerful. The course was in great condition, although the greens had been sanded recently but didnt put us off. They have done a lot of work on the bunkers, (I should know as I was in most of them) they had a lot of good quality sand in them and the pathways had been resurfaced.

A good experience in the bar after the game.

All in all a great days golf.

Course was very very boggy and really I don't think should have been open. Temporary tees on most greens had become just mud. Course does not drain well and II would not recommend for winter play in the days following rain.

For the time of year with the amount of rain we had the course was in great condition.

Greens were fast and true

This course should not have been open after all the rain we had. Fairways has standing water everywhere and the tee boxes were just a mud bog so couldn’t stabile your feet. Won’t be visiting again.

I like Bird hills but in wet conditions it can be annoying when it could be a lot better if the drainage was improved, from the first fairway mud up to your ankles is not a good impression. The greens are not great, but pitch marks from other players does not help.

Course looks all right for £15 a round but green are worst in England

Good value using tee off times.

£1.10 for a mars bar ?.

Played here loads of times and over all it never lets you down

Green's are very good today

Got round in under 3.5hrs on a Sunday morning

Good bacon sandwiches as well

Started off playing 1 player asked to team up with two other players at 1 st ... ended up shooting my best score , great day, lovely friendly club.. good greens ... nice clubhouse... good beer!!!,

This is the second time ive played this course in a couple of weeks and both times it has taken me over 5 and a half hours to get around this course.

There is far too many tee times given out and it just backs up everytime ive played here i think there needs to be someone going around on a buggy monotoring it as there was groups holding it up but not allowing anyone to play through this needs to be managed either tell them to let people thorugh or remove them from the course. This is a reasonable course but things like th8is let it down and so many people i speak to on course say they will not be coming back.
