Just a nice water hazard to get over Photo submitted by Uz276GW53QTNlHsllAIs on 04/15/2021
Turned up to play after midday, course was incredibly busy, 3 groups waiting to tee off when we got to the first tee.
We left after playing 5 holes which took almost 2.5 hours.
This was not due to slow play or groups holding us up but tee times far too close together on the course and the clubhouse not making twosomes join up and play as a full group.
A shame as we were really looking forward to the round and course was in good condition for the time of year but won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
First round for a while
It was great to get on a course again after a long absence. Lovely weather although a bit breezy but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The course was in excellent condition and I really enjoyed myself.
Great course layout and excellent conditions
Played alone on a Saturday and wasn't added to another group which was great.
Excellent fairways and green condition for a March in the UK. Course layout is very entertaining with lot's of elevation changes, dog legs, and some water. Great variety between longer, challenging holes and attacking short par 3.
Their slogan is 'everyone is welcome' and the staff really treats you that way. Nice amenities and the half way house was open as well.
I only played here because I had to drop someone at Gatwick airport and thought it would be fun to try this course, and indeed it was.
Gave 3 stars for pace of play but given that it was a sunny Saturday it could have been much worse.
lovely course and was very excited to play here but people having many issues with one small mistake of me not realising that we had to play off winter tees as ive never played here before and im fairly new to golf. Dont recommend it here if you are a beginner, members will try and throw you off the course as they have nothing else better to do
Don't bother till summer
Course was so wet and unplayable, we walked off after 9. There's been a lot of rain lately, and the course should definitely be closed. Greens are very patchy, looks like they had a disease. Ball was plugging on every shot and it was extremely difficult to walk around and stay upright. Don't waste your time and money until the course is dry.
Number 1 draining course.... do me a favour
A frosty round
The temperature was very cold, the course was frosty and the water covered in ice. However, we had a good 4-ball round. The hard ground helped although the frost on some greens made putting tricky. Enjoyed the challenge of some difficult holes and some easier ones. I would recommend it.
Winter
Greens where superb, however due to weather the fairways where a little sparce of grass on the fairways and lots of worm mounds. Footpaths leading to next hole where a little worn. I will definitely return in the dryer weather . This is a great course, good value and some interesting holes.
Not good
So I must say that the staff and food was both good at the corse but the corse its self is not in a good state for play after playing two holes we decided to walk back the the club house and get a refund.
Problems we had consisted of
.fairways shocking
. Outer cut of green just mud
. Greens not true
. Slow play
. Overall corse shouldn’t have been open
But must say the staff where more than happy to give us a refund and where very cooperative so can’t moan just a shame we drove from Kent to play as the photos look great but in real life it’s just a crap corse .
Supposed to be the best draining course in Surrey…I think not.
Played here numerous times and different times of the year. Yesterday was by far the worst condition I have ever seen the course in.
Fairways very muddy.
Walks between the green to tee were ridiculously muddy.
18 mats
Stuck behind a society which was not mentioned at all when we booked it.
Nearly 5 hours for a 2-ball.
One good note was that the greens were in good shape apart from loads of pitch marks.
A generally nice course if you can get a cheap green fee but seems to suffer in the winter.
Such a let down
Used to be a member here years ago - came for a first visit back and it’s so sad to see what a state this course is in. Fairways are shocking, a genuine mud bath.
It’s such a shame as the course would be a brilliant one if it was looked after properly. The layout is fantastic, some really interesting and varied holes.
Slow play,
No one will let you through, told "you'll have to wait" no one was in front of them, walked off after the front nine, won't be rushing back
1st time playing the course and impressed overall. Only issue we had was we booked a tee time of 2.42 and when we approached the 1st tee box there were 2 other groups at the tee box also. One of the 2 man groups had exactly the same tee time as us which should not be happening and even worse they were less than average players that held us up throughout the round. We are no pros far from it but the pace of their play was shocking to say the least. Numerous times we would approach the next tee box expecting to play and the two men would still be taking 2 or 3 tee shots. Course etiquette obviously lost on some. The amount of times they could have offered us to play through. By the time we was at the 17th hole it was almost dark. Not a single sign of a course steward making sure of the pace of play. Not impressed.
A few minor tweaks required....
Going to tell this as a bit of a story in sequence of our round as such....
Checked in with the pro shop asked a few questions and the guy was helpful in answering these...
Had a putt and the bin there looked great surrounded in plant life, unfortunately there was a lot of litter around the area outside by the putting area!
Moved on to have a swing in the nets, these could definitely do with a makeover, first ball hit went straight through into all the stingers and stuff at the back of the nets, we probably weren't the first to do this either....
Really enjoyed playing the course, some of the holes feels a little similar, namely 6 and 9, but vary just enough to get away with it, 7 and 8 are lovely holes, a 240yard par 3 perched up high for the tee shot, followed by a near drivable very tight up and over the big brow par 4.... sandwiched between the 2 reachable in 2 par 5s blind 2nd shots...this course, does have a lot of blind ISH tee shots .
Greens were very good, although recently cored, they were pretty fast with masses of decent undulating slopes and subtle breaks.
The back 9 features various holes with water and again some lovely holes, 12,13,17 were the pick for us, definitely no driver needed on some of the holes, lots of places the ball can find trouble or water if off line with the big hits, masses of bunkers that varied in sand a lot, some bare others spot on. Masses of tree lined holes with a lot of danger including water or just penalty areas about out there.
There are a lot of walks between the holes as it's spread out....
Biggest gripe is the general amount of litter out there....masses of beer bottles, beer cans and other crap, really feel that people are getting lazier and becoming more alcoholic on courses....lots of bins out there, so shouldn't be an issue!
Love the fact that the par 3s are fenced off on a couple to save buggies going everywhere, also please ring the bells when you're level with it as there's so many blind holes out there.
We would happily play here again if it wasn't 1.20hrs away without traffic....
Worth a visit, take a few balls and enjoy some lovely nature on this beautiful course....
No excuse for not raking the bunkers or repairing divots or pitch marks, let alone the litter you lazy lot that leave these! May you miss plenty of short putts!!!
Lovely course - good value for £25
Deceptively challenging course; with drier weather of late some thin lies on fairways here and there. Happily would play there regularly.
