Golf day
Played for the 2nd time this year, great course with some challenging holes. Not in as good condition as the first time we played but still in great condition, well worth a try.
Windy
Haven't played here for a couple of years & it's really matured.
The course was in excellent condition from tee to green .
A long course that played even longer on a windy day.
A must to hit the fairways or you are in the tree's hitting it back into play sideways.
Good value at £20 , but you need to have your A game to score well.
Bondhay 25/7/2021
What a well thoughtful course that challenges everyone’s tee skills. The narrow fairways with matured tree lines makes it a real challenge hitting low chip and runs to recover. The greens are small but very quick and there are four picturesque holes. The bunkers are really well positioned and difficult. A must play course for all
Fantastic course.
Course layout was great, with well kept tee boxes and bins at every other tee which keeps the course tidy. Green keepers have done a fantastic job with the line work on fairways and even the rough was maintained. Will definitely play here again.
Lovely but challenging course.
Really enjoyed playing Bondhay for the first time in about 17 years. The course is in great condition and well looked after. It is a very challenging course, made more difficult if you don’t hit the fairways.Only 2 negatives, from a guests point of view there could be better signage to some of the tees or a course map on the card. Secondly, and this isn’t the fault of anyone to to do with looking after the course, why can’t players repair their pichmarks, some greens were peppered with them. The greens are in great fettle, help look after them.
Friday afternoon game
Been coming to bondhay for many years.today the course was at its best, nice fairways, greens a nice pace, holding well after the rain. Staff friendly approachable.
Very enjoyable as always you have to think your way around as it is a tight course , don't need driver all the time due to narrow fairways.
Enjoyable
Great course
Played it for the first time yesterday, and was amazed how pretty the course is..... stunning hole after stunning hole. Quite challenging though and tight, but managed to not lose a ball....(more luck than judgement). I will be going back for sure.
Bonday
Utterly disappointed as we walked off after 11 holes as the pace of play was ridiculously slow 3hrs 10 mins for 11 holes is just not acceptable. It was a real shame as the course was it really good condition, lush fairways and smooth fast greens. This is the second time we have played bonday in the last 2 months we thought last time was slow @ 4hrs 40 for 18 but this time we was looking at 5hr 15 + round. I would not advise anyone to play here at weekends but maybe worth a try on a week day. We paid £25 + £1 golf now fee for just over half a round which in anyone’s book is poor value. I shall be asking for a refund from golf now but don’t hold out much hope of getting one. Bonday need to sort out the slow play as guests will not be returning……
Top notch
Right now the course is in great condition. Play it if you get the chance.
Tough but fair
Challenging with twisting fairways and hidden bunkers. Back 9 more interesting than front. Great course to test yourself.
Great test
Watching the changes at Bondhay over the years has been interesting, from its early somewhat Spartan immature open look, nature and the staff have developed the course into a beautiful wooded setting with every species of tree on display
The tight fairways and many fairway bunkers constantly attempt to take the driver out of the players hands and in doing so add yards to what is already a longer course.
Scoring around the greens is no easier as they are well protected on most fronts, this is a players course make no mistake.
But there’s the fun of it, you can’t whack the big dog and play from where it lands here, unless you like lots of woodland walks that is, a planned, accurate game is required to score remotely well, and you need to be “on it” all the time
Holes 10/11/12 are great holes that any couse would be proud of
and a lot of the other holes have great merit, there’s very few weak holes, they all offer a test.
Condition is usually good, the Sandy base keeps the course playable all year round, greens could be a little quicker but they’re fine really, certainly the bunkers need a bit more maintenance at times but for the money this is a smashing test of golf, just don’t expect too much if your wayward or a big slicer.
Pleasant reasonably priced bar and nice bar grub complete the picture.
Usual gripes about slow play from the obligatory aging morning 4 balls , but that’s a worldwide golfing issue I’m afraid.
A very good facility at a reasonable price in good condition, one of the best value venues on golf now., it’s a gem.
Good game
Only downside to a great course and wonderfully kept greens would be the club house is closed so no cold after game beers
