Top notch
Right now the course is in great condition. Play it if you get the chance.
Tough but fair
Challenging with twisting fairways and hidden bunkers. Back 9 more interesting than front. Great course to test yourself.
Great test
Watching the changes at Bondhay over the years has been interesting, from its early somewhat Spartan immature open look, nature and the staff have developed the course into a beautiful wooded setting with every species of tree on display
The tight fairways and many fairway bunkers constantly attempt to take the driver out of the players hands and in doing so add yards to what is already a longer course.
Scoring around the greens is no easier as they are well protected on most fronts, this is a players course make no mistake.
But there’s the fun of it, you can’t whack the big dog and play from where it lands here, unless you like lots of woodland walks that is, a planned, accurate game is required to score remotely well, and you need to be “on it” all the time
Holes 10/11/12 are great holes that any couse would be proud of
and a lot of the other holes have great merit, there’s very few weak holes, they all offer a test.
Condition is usually good, the Sandy base keeps the course playable all year round, greens could be a little quicker but they’re fine really, certainly the bunkers need a bit more maintenance at times but for the money this is a smashing test of golf, just don’t expect too much if your wayward or a big slicer.
Pleasant reasonably priced bar and nice bar grub complete the picture.
Usual gripes about slow play from the obligatory aging morning 4 balls , but that’s a worldwide golfing issue I’m afraid.
A very good facility at a reasonable price in good condition, one of the best value venues on golf now., it’s a gem.
Good game
Only downside to a great course and wonderfully kept greens would be the club house is closed so no cold after game beers
Stunning conditions
My first game here in over 10 years, apart from SI 1 and the 18th I couldn’t remember any of this course it’s matured into a proper championship venue.
The fairways and greens are in amazing condition, all the bunkers very neatly prepared even thought I didn’t go in any today for a change, cannot wait to play here again.
Awesome
It’s been over 10 years since I played this course but all I can say is
Wow !!
I had a nightmare round but cannot wait to play it again, that’s how good this place is,
And b4 a lot of players mention bunkers! I’m a. 15 HC and never hit a bunker the course is tough but worth every penny.
Had to come off the course after 7 holes because of a thunderstorm and lightning. Was very impressed with what I’d seen up until that point. Greens a bit woolly but could be quite slick if closely cut and ironed. Booked through golf now and they have offered to reimburse half the fee so we will visit again. Very tight and tough. A thinking golf course. Special mention to the lady ( Becky ) who spent a lot of time welcoming us and helping us get reimbursed.
Marvellous
Excellent condition for this time of year. Great value.
Great Course
Fantastic course with lots of challenges on every single hole. The section around the turn are some of the best holes I have played anywhere - 9, 10 and 11 will test your nerve and endanger your scorecard!
The 18th is a finishing hole that could easily wreck your day. Two ponds to clear on your approach to the green, tempts you to go for it, but be sensible and lay up!
Enjoyed the day playing with three friends, top course.
Nice n tight
Love this place … always makes you think about your shots , course is tight but also rewarding … played here now 6 times and every round has been very slow , so if you want a quick round this is not a course for you but if not in a rush this is a brill course to play …
A great course
I am a high handicap retiree and I play 2 times a week at various local courses. I think this is the best one I have played so far. Tricky but interesting. Got a net 82 which I was pleased with. Loved the holes with the water hazards. The two guys in the club shop were very welcoming and informative. I I’ll b back. My playing partners lost a few balls but I wouldn’t let that put you off. I hit most fairways and only lost one in the middle of a lake. Highly recommended course
Stunning golf course
Covid restrictions so 19th bar was closed but flawless golf course
Would love to play here again before end of year
Maybe little tough for newer or high handicapper golfers
great course
superb course although a bit hard for my 28 handicap but my playing partners fully enjoyed. will definitely return.
