Great course but very hard for a first round after lockdown!
The course was in really good condition. We were a 2 ball and the pace of play was generally good with only a short wait on each tee.
The course is very tight and you need to be very accurate off the tea. Any shot off line is a chip out sideways from trees.
It was a shame the bar wasnt open after the round although it was the first day that this was allowed (after lockdown).
Would deffinitely play again but once the swing is back.
I would suggest keeping the driver in the bag on most holes.
Absolute gem of a course
Fantastic course. Not a bad hole , and I ised every club in my bag.
Every hole tests your game. Straight driving is very important, and the courses a proper test of all of your game.
The final.three holes are a great finish, with the par 5 18th a memorable finale.. Cannot wait to go back now that I know the exact layout.
Something for everyone
Good course can be a bit tight at times but game management is key
Decent fairways with plenty of trees to find and good greens make for an enjoyable round of golf
Clubhouse needs serious update however you don’t play golf in there
Challenge Accepted
Wow. 30mph winds. Tight fairways with densely wooded roughs. This is a very challenging course, but brilliantly thought out and designed. Im a long hitter that likes a bit of forgiveness either side. Not found here. Forced me to rethink my game right down to iron selection off the tee. A very enjoyable and challenging experience. Beautiful par 3s, a couple dog legs here and there and an 18th that will make or break your round. Wonderful.
Green and tee boxes
Greens were shocking bumpy and not nice to putt on and tee boxes were shocking holes and pitch marks everywhere, after 1 day of courses been open would have thought it be in better condition
Good course unfortunately no mention of winter greens when booking
Great course set up but no mention of a number of winter greens or markers to show distance changes slightly reduced to days fun
Bondhay on a cold day.
I haven't played Bondhay for a number of years, so it was nice to go back. The trees have matured since I last visited, so the course / holes feel more enclosed now. It's a good layout, which I think high handicappers would struggle on, but enjoyable nonetheless.
My only criticism on the day were temporary greens across the course. As Bondhay is generally noted for its year round playability, this was a little bit of a let down, as some of the temporary greens are simply not temporary greens. I appreciate the weather had been bad / cold, but I don't think it justified closing the greens on the day.
I would certainly go back in summer, as it would be nice to play the course in its entirety on a summer day.
Winter CoVID Golf
Fairways in good condition and great not having to use fairway mats. A shame there were 2 temporary greens, especially on one of their signature holes. The fairways are very tight and unforgiving. There is very little rough, mostly fairway or trees so accuracy is a must unless you don't mind losing balls. Layout and use of water is used intelligently. Would certainly play again, especially at the price. Great value for money.
Tees very busy there were 11 people on the 1st tee so a slow day ahead it took 5 hours ti get round.
Great course though tees very good for time of year although 3 or 4 mats but its to be expected, fairways excellent for time of year, lits of leaves and i mean lots hard to pick ball up even in middle of fairway agian to be expected on a tree lined course, and finally the greens were very poor, long, bobbly and so many unrepaired pitchmarks. All in all for the time if year a good course at a good price but they should consider winter greens and tee times maybe spaced out a little more
Winter golf
The course holds up well in winter
Plays shorter as the tees are pushed up but still a hard challenge
Lots of bunkers to avoid
Give it a try
Good course
The course was in excellent condition for the time of year. Very good value for money.
Bondhay
First day after lockdown so course was packed full of rusty golfers. Greens were slower than usual and dead leaves ought to have been cleared. Excellent winter course which allows buggies all year round.
