Painfully slow and lack of course etiquette
This was my first time playing this course in a while and my memory of the last time was similar. Which is a real shame!, as I'm currently playing all local courses, with the intention of joining one. To begin, the range is mediocre at best. If you believe the website, they constantly monitor the mats, which is something I find hard to believe, unless they have poor quality standards to measure against. My bay mat looked as though it had mumps and the couple of others I looked at, wasn't much better.
Tuesday course itself, is ok. Not very interesting but in great condition, considering the amount of rain recently and it being winter. Sadly, the pace of playing was painful. I had 4 senior gents in front of me, who spent more time looking for lost balls than progressing towards the green. Not intentionally, I nearly hit them a few times when driving, through trying to keep warm and trying desperately to pick up their speed. I was hoping that as i was out driving them all by 2/3 shots, they would get the hint. I'm guessing they were not members, or perhaps couldn't read, as they wouldn't let me take my shot on the par 3, with a big white sign, asking for players to mark their balls, when on the green. This was something they failed to do, even though they were exploring more tree's 5pish yards from the tee. Sadly I had to follow them all the way round, and at times, I felt like going home. It was cold and I couldn't get into any rhythm. I did get chatting with a few members and it seems the course does get very busy, especially as it is able to stay open through the winter. Although this is a big positive, I feel (based on the members feedback) this is not the club for me.
Managed to finish my round, nearly 5 hours later and Sadly the air guns were turned off, so no chance of clearing the mud from my shoes. Won't be back in a hurry.
Probably wouldn’t return.
Unfortunately the course tees fairways and putting greens were in a below average state, didn’t look well maintained, shame really.
Nice area, great pace. Let down by the state green. Abandoned after the 9th putting wasn’t enjoyable.
Brampton
Decent course in good condition. Long holes and well kept.
Staff were friendly and good prices, will be visiting again.
Wide and forgiving
Nice course, wide fairways, decent pace of play. Good facilities, good golfing day
Course has not recovered from the hot weather
The fairways are in poor condition still very hard. There were lots of very poor bounces. There are lots of animal scrapings around the course. Greens very fast which is good but patchy. overall nowhere near as good as it has been in the past
Well worth it
Definitely worth playing. Fantastic greens. Could do with better signage to aid first time players. But overall a very positive experience
Great Local Course
I've looked at this course many times and allowed myself to be put off by the reviews.
This was a last-minute booking for myself and my son-in-law; he hadn't played for a while, so it was time to get him back out.
They must have done a lot of work on the course since these last reviews, I couldn't fault it.
We will be playing here again.
Nothings changed
Still overbooked, still slower play than anywhere bar Collingtree.
Avoid
The starter was very unfriendly. If your not a member and known to him he will make you feel unwelcome.
Plus as a golfnow customer he tried to say I had booked for 9 holes instead of the actual 18 which was clearly stated on the booking ref.
Course looks very tired and untidy including missing matts on muddy areas.
There is a strong sewage smell across the majority of the course which I’m informed is a result of the new houses being built nearby.
Nothing special
Firstly the bunkers are some of the worst I've ever seen, no sand, tonnes of rocks to secondly the tee boxes are awful, on 4 holes we tee'd off outside the box just to get a decent bit of ground.
Another negative is boring and long par 3s. 3 of which require fairway woods, it's not a PGA tour couse so why are the par 3s 190-200 yards? It would be so much nicer if they just made the par 3s reachable!
The staff however are very friendly. The course has potential but they charge premium prices and it's far from a premium course
Nice course
i like the course, playing a little longer than I remember, a good test!
