Breadsall Priory Golf & Country Club - Moorland Course

Played this course late afternoon on Saturday. The course is well laid out and has some great features. Started off well but eventually caught up with a 4 ball that were taking 2x as long per hole than you would expect. Some groups cut out a hole to get in front, I practiced chipping on the fairway while waiting for them to clear the greens.

Really enjoyed it great weather and enjoyable golf. Staff in pro shop very helpful.

Excellent course. In good condition despite recent wet weather. 1st and 18th holes let the course down a bit but that's being picky.

Finished at 5.30pm but the bar was closed!

The course was in good condition for the time of year and how the weather has been lately. Winter rulings apply so no shots from the fairway, you move the ball into the semi rough and play your shot from there. Greens rolling quite well.

Got to the pro shop to be told in a faulty unfriendly manner that that course was closed due to fog. I was surprised as it was not that bad, illustrated by the fact we ended up going to play 18 holes at another course 5 minutes away. I mentioned it might have been nice to receive a call or email letting us know before we got there. To which the staff member replied “not my problem, you booked through a third party”

I called GolfNow immediately to inform them what had happened and was told they would cancel the tee time and refund me. Well over 10 days later and still no refund!

Greens were a little bit slow but it was a Sunday late afternoon and the pace of play wasn’t great but all in all it was ok.

I played at 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and saw 10 other people as I made my way around. Course was in decent condition and I find the layout enjoyable with some up and down holes but it isn’t the longest but still calls for decent accuracy off the tee and then you can make a score by putting your ball in play. Greens were a little bit bumpy but that’s to be expected and unfortunately there were quite a few pitch marks around.

Temporary tees halfway up all the fairways, pretty much making it a long par 3 course. Holes 1 and 18 shut. Not told about the tees when booking. Told off by members for hitting off the fairways, apparently you’re meant to kick ball into the rough to play into the greens. Complete shambles of a layout too with little to no signage.

All this and they still want to charge you £35 a man. Played a municipal a few days prior at £20 which was better in every aspect.

Good test of golf for all abilities. Was on my own but two friendly members invited me to join them. Every hole different and interesting

The Moorland and Priory courses are Breadsall are great. The layouts and challenge they offer are a pleasure to play. It was disappointing that the Priory (the course we had signed up to play) was closed (we later found out it had been for some time - even before we booked) and the moorland only had 16 holes open and we had to play from the first cut or mats. This was a little baffling given how good the fairways looked and that the group behind were hacking away at the turf (maybe one rule for members!) the price is on the high side in comparison to the quality courses within touching distance but worth a try.

The day was extremely cold and teed off at 11-00 am.

It was quite dry on the course no muddy patches and the greens were so fast for a January game but true.

The course is well kept, and was a bargain for £20 today. Food and drink though is on the expensive side.

Played here many times over the years however second time booked with TeeOffTimes. Staff don't seem to know what bookings are taken and you get that awkward feeling that something might have gone wrong. There's little in the way of apology for this awkward moment which is disappointing based on the standard the club sets itself.

The course is well laid out with the greens and fairways always in great condition. It could be said the course is a little featureless and flat at times and I would agree it lacks the features of its sister course the Priory but it has some challenging aspects with the opportunity to score well if you keep it straight.

Overall at the discounted rate of £20 is worth the money, even a little more, but I can't say I would pay the full price.

The Moorland is often referred to as the 2nd course at Breadsall Priory, but i prefer it to the Priory. This course has some nice open holes, easy walking no big hills and some fantastic views across the Derwent Valley to the South and Derbyshire Dales to North. Good greens, no silly holes. A couple you can get near on a par 4 and par 5 for better players.
