Drive to OFGC?!
This mature course located in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire is a must visit for all golfers. All of the holes have great character and shape. A genuine test of golfing ability, tests your long and short game.
The course is in great condition with signature holes at ten and seventeen. Greens are fast with subtle and not so subtle breaks! A handful of blind tee shots add to the challenge. Great course to visit, get yourself there!
A little gem
Great course, no 2 holes the same, need to be able to draw and fade the ball. Definitely need a yardage book or scope as length off the tee is key on a lot of holes. Negotiate that and then u have the rather slick greens!
I've driven by this course many times and always wondered what it was like! Absolutely wonderful is the answer! I'm not usually fond of hilly courses but this one is easily manageable for me. Maybe if there was one thing I could criticize it would be that some of the greens were a bit patchy but we've not had any rain for weeks so maybe understandable! I will definitely be back many more times in the future! Brilliant golf club!
Nice course in good condition. Pace of play was an issue. 4 hours as a one ball stuck behind two four balls and then nothing in front for several holes. Most holes I got to the tee as they were still hacking away or looking for balls 50 yards away often in the trees. Not once was an offer made to play though even as one of the players went back to the clubhouse to relieve himself mid-hole.
Other than this, it was alright.
Some good challenging holes. Suitable for all abilities and very forgiving in places. Will definitely be returning
Forgot how good this course is. But only seem to play in bad weather. Very wet under foot on most of the course making for a difficult round. Greens in great condition but again holding water. Great course lay out and some great holes. All round a challenging course. Will definitely be back in the summer.
Interesting Course, Slow Play
The course itself is well maintained and interesting to play, greens were relatively quick despite some serious rain. The layout is much more interesting than a lot of local courses, with a number of holes requiring something other than driver off the tee. Only issue here is play is often quite slow, I guess that’s a result of varying skill levels on course!
Course was excellent but the greens in particular were outstanding and made for confident putting. Paid much more for a round of golf this year at other courses that were nowhere near the condition of Ormonde Fields. W8ll definitely play again next year
Challenging little course
Having an array of good golf clubs in my locality it’s always nice to play Ormonde fields it’s not the longest but certainly one of the most challenging.and attractive,Greens have suffered over recent years but are now allot quicker and more consistent all credit to the ground staff
What a find
Played this course course for the first time on a hot deal and I absolutely loved this course. Fairways were really lush making it really easy for ball striking and the amount of attention to the way the course is maintained is a real credit to all the staff. Only negative was that the greens had just been treated but that’s part and parcel of golf. Very friendly in the clubhouse and everyone we passed was very pleasant. If this course was closer to where I live I would definitely join but hopefully we can get to come back and play again soon. Top venue for golf.
Course in amazing condition
Absolute fantastic condition
Greens brill recommend it too play and club house & staff very nice
Only issue pace of play
Some really interesting holes
Last 2 times played though -rounds so slow
Once was down to a competition from members in 4 balls and our tee time was bang in middle of them so as 2 ball no chance of playing through
The other time was down to clueless 2 ball that had no idea they were holding up 3 groups backed up behind them
