Forest Creek Golf Club

About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Be very specific
I called ahead and asked when they greens had been sanded and aerated last on Monday before booking the tee time and they said they hand been in the last month then asked how the greens were looking and they said great. Told them I was about to book and they said great. Show up two days later and the greens are sanded. I get it’s a part of the business but really frustrating when they I try to avoid the situation and they know that and just let it happen anyway.
Great shape
Course was in great shape. Fairways and greens in perfect condition just wish pace of play was a little better but will definitely play again
Beautiful course, challenging to an average player with variety of shots necessary to play well. Don’t just pull your driver
Played from Blues, realized couldn’t drive on most holes to score. Had to navigate course with good shot selection.
But unhappy with lack of good variety at the clubhouse. They serve only hotdogs and some kind of sausage wrap
I played Forest Creek for the first time in 10 years or so. GPS carts were the biggest change. Course was in great condition. Pace of play was not good. On the back 9, we waited on 5-6 holes roughly 5-15 minutes each for groups ahead of us.
18 holes took 5 1/2 hours.
Great course
Always a fun course. Course conditions were on point!
Forest is always a gem!
Played here many times, it's in really good shape. The wetness this season has allowed elite conditions at most courses; hence the crazy prices, but it's everywhere. It's worth noting that your fee includes a bucket, beer and brat.
We played at 7 am and finished in 4 hours; could've finished quicker but that was our fault and the group behind us was a half half back the whole time - we let a twosome run through.
Forest has solid fairways and greens are running really well, getting faster and faster. This is my go to place outside of my local course. Staff and everything else is great!
Good Greens
Excellent day for golf.
The course was in good shape, they had done a lot of trimming and cutting out the creeping rough. It makes it more enjoyable since if you miss the fairway you are not looking for your ball for 5 minutes holding up the line.
The greens were near perfect and rolled well on most putts.
Great Condition
Have played this course many times but the course was in great condition! Fairways immaculate greens good and the round came with a free hot dog, range balls and a drink. However to have a round take 5 hours on a weekday day ( Wednesday ) is ridiculous for a twosome. This course has always been in good shape but the pace of play has always been on the long side. Staff very friendly and saw course marshals several times but guys the speed of play needs to pick up. I get a slow round on a weekend but 5 hours on a Wednesday is not acceptable . Would play again but speed of play needs to be addressed
Consistnet Quality
Love the layout of this course and the slight elevation changes that were able to be worked into the layout. Hard to do in that area of town. Thanks for the brush clearing, now if we could get some rain to fill the creeks....or maybe not. Greems in awesome shape.
Good could be Great
There seem to be small issues with a few greens. But Forest Creek is still one of my routine courses now that I’m playing more often. Had to do a group agreement on “ground under repair”. The course management is busy getting ready for some Championship that was being played there in following week. But by time true summer comes around. Am sure Forest Creek will be top rated public course in the area.
