Forest Creek Golf Club

About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Great Course
This is my 2nd time playing the course. It is in great shape. It is well-maintained and the team does a good job of scheduling the tee-times and keeping the pace moving.
Best value in the Round Rock/Austin area
The course is in great shape. The best value in town in terms of the cost and the quality of the course. Also, their merchandise in the pro shop is top-notch.
Good Course and great value
Golf trip to Austin and we decided to play this course because we never played a course in Round Rock and other Austin courses we normally play were busy and more expensive (Avery Ranch). My group overall was very happy with course conditions and pace of play. Plus for $65 and it came with a hot dog and drink( a beer or soft drink) at the turn, we loved it. Definitely would play again, course very green and no issues with greens
Forest Creek is underrated
Fair price for a weekday afternoon round ($56). Good putting green and practice chipping green with green side bunker. Pace a play was average, and tolerable. Greens rolled consistently and medium speed. Fairways and greens were kept well. Cart/GPS with built in USB performed well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience.
Not ideal course conditions
Decent course, but not very well cared for.
Bunkers are shallow and unplayable. Many tee boxes are in very poor condition, making it difficult to find a spot with decent footing. Several greens have large patches of grass and/or dead spots.
Another perplexing aspect of this course is that the tee boxes keep changing positions, sometimes significantly. This makes the course rating and slope incorrect, and adversely affects the accuracy of the GHIN entries for the course.
Great Course
The course was in great shape. The layout is awesome.
The staff was very firendly.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a great round.
Course is in pristine condition
I’ve played here 75+ times in the last 20 years and I love Forest Creek. Tee boxes are perfect, fairways could’ve used a mowing, and greens were pretty perfect.
The beverage cart girls need to be trained better, they don’t know the proper places to stop and they don’t stop and wait. They just drive on by and not even really anticipate people buying, and I bet they complain they don’t make money.
Finally, my gf doesn’t golf, but she loves riding along with me and watching occasionally. It’s always funny the courses that charge me for her to just ride along. Yesterday there was only a threesome, so I was already going to be in a cart by myself. Meaning the seat was already going to be empty…they still charged me $30 for her to ride along. For reference…I played a Jack Nicklaus design, all inclusive resort in Mexico that included food and booze for her, and they charged $35 for her to ride along.
Great layout and good price
This is a fun and challenging course and is kept up in good condition. you will be happy playing here.
Watch out for regulars
Place is great. Review is for the guys who decided to run a 16 man skins game tournament style while booking tee times from 11:30 - 12:30 during the week. I understand get it in when you can. But realistically if you are going to do that let the pro shop know. Group in front of us played so slow. We waited a while to tee off at every hole. Group in front of them was waiting for the green to clear before they would hit their tee shots on par 4s and 5s.
Had to skip 4 holes just to get around the skins game of 4 groups. Even with that it still took us 4 hours to complete the round. We never saw the group behind us once we skipped all of them. I have been playing Forrest creek since it opened back up from renovations. Marshall came and told us the group complained and that they were regulars so we should be nicer when skipping. True I believe it’s good practice but also you shouldn’t be running a full skins game and taking a 4 hour max course to a 5 hour round. If I wanted to spend half the day playing slow golf I would go to Avery ranch.
Good Course. Amazing staff
Forest Creek is a good course. The layout is nice and the staff is awesome. The only complaint I have is that some of the bunkers have rocks in them so I recommend raking and placing your ball to avoid damaging a wedge. I had a bunker shot and took a chunk out of the bottom of my 8 iron but luckily didn't damage the club face. Overall would rate the course a 7.5/10.
Forest Creek
First time playing in Texas, decent course for the time and money, staff was friendly, locals were nice and the course was in good shape for spring time.
