Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Watch out for regulars
Place is great. Review is for the guys who decided to run a 16 man skins game tournament style while booking tee times from 11:30 - 12:30 during the week. I understand get it in when you can. But realistically if you are going to do that let the pro shop know. Group in front of us played so slow. We waited a while to tee off at every hole. Group in front of them was waiting for the green to clear before they would hit their tee shots on par 4s and 5s.
Had to skip 4 holes just to get around the skins game of 4 groups. Even with that it still took us 4 hours to complete the round. We never saw the group behind us once we skipped all of them. I have been playing Forrest creek since it opened back up from renovations. Marshall came and told us the group complained and that they were regulars so we should be nicer when skipping. True I believe it’s good practice but also you shouldn’t be running a full skins game and taking a 4 hour max course to a 5 hour round. If I wanted to spend half the day playing slow golf I would go to Avery ranch.
Good Course. Amazing staff
Forest Creek is a good course. The layout is nice and the staff is awesome. The only complaint I have is that some of the bunkers have rocks in them so I recommend raking and placing your ball to avoid damaging a wedge. I had a bunker shot and took a chunk out of the bottom of my 8 iron but luckily didn't damage the club face. Overall would rate the course a 7.5/10.
Forest Creek
First time playing in Texas, decent course for the time and money, staff was friendly, locals were nice and the course was in good shape for spring time.
Good deal, fun layout
For 65 bucks on a weekday you get a beer, hotdog and range balls with your round… what a deal! A challenging layout but it was great conditions for February in Texas.
Horse Creek golf club, February 2025
We had an 1140 teatime so I arrive at 10:40 so I could hit some balls on the range range have maps only in the mats aren’t in very good shape when we arrived we found out there’s been an hour delay on teetimes due to a frost warning so our teatime was pushed back an hour to 1240. The course was packed and we had to wait on the threesome in front of us all day. The greens were not in very good shape. I’m assuming due to the traffic. Looks like a lot of spike marks or people dragging their feet. They were very bumpy by one big gripe was in the in the concession area they were selling sausage wraps for $7.25 that to me is way overpriced. I will play again but it’ll be a while before I go back..
Great day at Forest Creek
The club was very receptive and the staff was professional and extremely friendly. Even though I made a mistake on my booking time, they accommodated our party and put us into the field.
The course condition was good and layout challenging yet fair
Great day for Golf!
Hadn't had the opportunity to play this course in a while but we did and we really enjoyed it! Great layout and for February, the course looked great. Wish we lived closer so we could play this course more often!
Always a great round here
This is my go to course for family and relaxation. I love the difficulty, length and challenges of this course. Beautiful setting in the middle of a gorgeous community. I've met friendly golfers as well as friendly, helpful staff.
Decent winter golf
Golf course overall is pretty decent condition considering the weather and time of year. The slow pace met expectations for a weekend round. Good frequency of beverage cart visits during the round. Tee boxes are a bit chewed up and a few of the greens look like someone dragged their feet everywhere, not sure what that was about, but they ran pretty true and consistent at a good pace anyway. Bunkers are in good shape. Cart GPS worked well. I love the range balls-beer-hot dog deal included in the round. Paid $110 each, so still a bit pricey for the conditions and pace of play.
