Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Best Course in Centex
Forest Creek is in great shape, and I believe it is once again the best and most challenging golf course in Central TX. It’s much tighter than easy, wide-open courses like *Ranch or T-Vista, and the greens & traps have been vastly improved by the 2019 completed renovation. But it’s too difficult for casual golfers, who will find it difficult to break 100 @ FC. It plays at least 7 strokes harder than most other Centex courses. I had 10 pars & shot an 83 today.
Nice
Good value...nice course. Pristine fairways and nice greens slower than they look but true. Only imild issue is the number of quirky sharp doglegs. Otherwise I’ll be back definitely! Beers on course cold and inexpensive. Like ALL other courses, more peeing facilities would invite more beer sales. Middle aged men spend more on golf than any other and need to pee.
Thanks for you positive review. See you again soon.
Round Rock gem
Recently played Ram Rock at Horseshoe Bay. These Robert Trent Jones designed courses have a well deserved reputation as some of the finest courses in Central Texas. Add Forest Creek to this list. The entire course was refurbished last year and it shows. The greens are perfect. The sand traps drain and leave you with predictable shots. Kemper Sports took over management. They are professional and so very friendly. New carts have touch screen GPS; a feature that would have been useful at Ram Rock.
Great condition
Excellent fairways, greens and tee boxes. It rained most of my time on the course and the grass held up great. Not a hard as I was expecting, so I was pleasantly surprised. The carts have Bluetooth, and gps, very swanky
Awesome as usual
Was wet out today but the course was great! Fantastic greens and fairways and a fun track.
They got new carts recently with all the GPS and music installed. Pretty cool. No radar golf ball locator though.
Be back soon!
Thanks Dave! We appreciate your comments and glad you enjoyed your golf experience at Forest Creek.
Thank you David for your comments. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to improve the golf experience at Forest Creek.
Hidden gem right here in Round Rock
Good layout, greens are in great shape, tee boxes in great shape. This is one of the hidden gems in Round Rock. Awesome course layout, tree lined, Texas style course. Fairways are in good shape, tee boxes even, sand traps in great shape and greens are awesome. Staff very friendly and willing to make this an enjoyable golf outing.
Thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
A Nicer Lions
This course feels so much like lions down south in Austin. Tight, short and a bunch of doglegs and slope. Saying good bye to your driver might be the best decision you make. Excellent course condition and all the people working there are great. Got a free water bottle at the tee off and free cold towels by the Marshal which isn’t a joke when it’s 103 out.
Great golf experience
Booked a 7am tee time at 6:15am for a Wednesday round. Super friendly staff. 53.99 after tax with cart (GPS), range balls, sleeve of balls, hot dog or sausage wrap and beer or soft drink included. Also entered me into a drawing for free polo for the day. Course in great shape, especially the greens. Can’t wait to return. Some constructive criticism: tee markers weren’t in place yet, no men’s club (although sounds like this is common amongst muni’s in TX?), heard some members talk about how people can book up to a month ahead on golf now but they can only book a week out. Would like to see some tournament offerings. Would be willing to pay more since the course was in great shape! 5 stars!
Thank you for your comments and glad you enjoyed your golf at Forest Creek.
One of the best in north Austin!
Course has turned into one of the best in the area! Props to the team there who have really helped turn this track into a great one!
Tight fairways, great condition
The course is in superb condition. The greens are excellent. They also have fancy new carts with that allow you to bluetooth your phone to the speakers on the cart. This course has the amenities and is in the condition of a $80 tee time or higher course.
Thanks for your review and we will try not to raise the rates to $80 just yet. See you soon!
Nice course & great people...
We enjoyed just being out playing with the current COVID situation. From start to Finish I had a great time with the guys we were paired with to the friendliness and jocund nature of the staff. Will be back when in town! :)
Plush in August
Forest Creek took a dive a decade or so ago. The course reno paid off. This is the best course under $60 I have ever played.
Thank you! We are glad you are enjoying the renovations and feel a great value at Forest Creek.
Much improved !
Course has been much improved fairways and greens in nice condition
Tough track ! Bring your A game !
Thanks for your comments. Forest Creek does test every cub in your bag. See you soon1
Great Value and Great Fun
First time playing Forest Creek but it won’t be my last! The course is fairly tight with lots of doglegs and the greens are undulating but not unfair. I feel that it can be a bit challenging for the beginner as many of the shots require you to play for position. It’s definitely a fun layout and can’t wait to play it again!
Thanks for your comments and we look forward to seeing you again real soon.
Greens and fairways in great shape love the new system for yardage and keeping score on board the vehicles great time
Thanks for your comments and glad you enjoyed your golf experience.
Best Value.....Maybe in Texas
Booked 3 of Golf Advisor's top 3 public courses in Austin with a buddy for a weekend golf trip and this was the first stop on our list. Not only was it the nicest course we played all weekend, it was also the cheapest and had the friendliest staff. The greens and fairways are as good as any I've seen on a public course. The clubhouse and practice facilities are top notch, the course pairs beautiful views with unique challenges at a rate comparable to a nicer muni course. If I was an Austin area native, I'd be a regular here. You quite simple can't beat this course for the price.
Thanks for the comments and glad you had a great time here at Forest Creek..
Thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you again soon and you breaking 80 out here!
