Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Forest Creek@ Round Rock, Texas
Course in pretty good shape overall.. Greens coming back from too much rain in Spring time and Hurricane Harvey. Has some spots on greens that are fungus related . But staff is addressing those issues . In several weeks the greens will look and roll real well.
Horrible Greens and Bunkers
Course is in rough shape! Greens are a horrible mess. Bunkers are mud pits. It makes for a bad experience no matter how nice they are in the clubhouse. They need to shutdown and overhaul. Don't play here
#badroundofgolf
Course was in very poor condition. Pro shop gave free sleeve of balls to try and make up for condition of most of the greens. Pace of play was terrible I understand it was a holiday weekend , but a course Marshal passed our group twice but did NOTHING about the group in front of us. Eventually had to call the pro shop to try and get situation resolved. It took nearly 6 hours to play round of golf. Will definitely not return

Course is rough right now
Just an FYI, the course is pretty rough. With recent rains the fairways are still recovering but the greens are in really bad shape. They are dying along the edges and on some there are pretty big bare spots in the middle. I'd give this course at least a few months to get back into shape and go for other courses in the area till the greens recover and they get the fairways back in order.
Greens were terrible
We had seen that there had been "advisories" on this course for the last three to five weeks and read that the greens were still in recovery - but had we known the actual condition of the greens we wouldn't have played there,
Let's just say that they should have left the advisory warning up and going for a couple more weeks at least!
really well
the course is in the best condition but the greens are in bad shape but that it the price is amazing and the fairways and tee boxes are in great shape
Greens are in need of serious repairs and the pace was very slow, but we still had a great time and for the price on a Saturday morning, it cannot be beat in this area.
Course description
Fairways and tee boxes great had 4 temporary greens and some others were rough
Greens in Sad Shape
With the course in good shape generally, it is hard to understand how the greens got so bad. Most were un-puttable due to the rough bare spots. Four holes had temporary greens that putted almost as well as the regular greens. For a competitive round, you would have to use the "two putt rule". The layout is a little quirky and hard to visualize the first time around. $15 would have been a fair price for the round.
Green cobdition
Would like to have known that the greens were under repair before I made my tee time. Very rough green conditions
Greens were extremely poor and will take a while to come back.
Normally great, but greens are in awful shape right now...
I normally love playing this course but right now the greens are just in awful shape. We were made aware of this and the price reflects the conditions but I simply can not recommend this course at this time. Give it another month or so and I'm sure the greens will be back to playable shape and it'll go back to being one of my favorite courses to play.
Ist Time at Forest Creek
We enjoyed playing this course, but had to stop at 14, because it began to rain. We would like to come back and play.
Terrible greens
I have played this course at least 50 times and this was the absolute worst. The fairways were in good shape as usual but the greens are dead and littered with poa annua. 13 of the 18 greens were not playable and hole 7 had a 20 ft diameter temporary green. If the green fee was 10 bucks I wouldn't complain but through golf now it was 40 bucks. Pro said they will probably close the course after summer and rebuild them all. There was a flag on golfnow saying the greens were recovering from maintenance which I took to mean they had been recently aerated. Not the case, don't waste your money unless you just want to work on tee shots and irons.
Disappointing
Greens are unbelievably bad and will have to be completely re done. One temp green. Worst I've seen in my 1000+ rounds of golf. Gonna be at least 24 months before I talk myself into going here again. Shame bc it's a great layout.
Winter conditions
Windy and cool day to play. Course was not in the condition I have seen in the past as grass is going dormant and greens were bumpy.
Quality fall golf at Forest Creek
Played Sunday afternoon as a 4-some. Started at 1:15 so we could finish before dark with the recent time change. Fairways and tee boxes in great shape for the most part. Greens were cut low and although there are coloration differences they are rolling smoothly and pretty consistent on speed. Make sure you don't get above the hole because the downhill putts are pretty quick. We played in 4 hrs 10 minutes, which on a Sunday afternoon is pretty good. You may only hit driver 4 or 5 times out here, it is a shot makers course and pay attention to the distances you need off the tees. Always a challenging layout and take plenty of golf balls because there are lots of trees and creeks that are in play!
The club house has your essential golf gear and the 19th hole has what you need to survive; reasonably priced drinks, hot dogs, sausage wraps... but don't expect on gourmet dining!
