Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

18th hole Photo submitted by BrandonTuckerGA on 11/13/2016
Normally great, but greens are in awful shape right now...
I normally love playing this course but right now the greens are just in awful shape. We were made aware of this and the price reflects the conditions but I simply can not recommend this course at this time. Give it another month or so and I'm sure the greens will be back to playable shape and it'll go back to being one of my favorite courses to play.
Ist Time at Forest Creek
We enjoyed playing this course, but had to stop at 14, because it began to rain. We would like to come back and play.
Terrible greens
I have played this course at least 50 times and this was the absolute worst. The fairways were in good shape as usual but the greens are dead and littered with poa annua. 13 of the 18 greens were not playable and hole 7 had a 20 ft diameter temporary green. If the green fee was 10 bucks I wouldn't complain but through golf now it was 40 bucks. Pro said they will probably close the course after summer and rebuild them all. There was a flag on golfnow saying the greens were recovering from maintenance which I took to mean they had been recently aerated. Not the case, don't waste your money unless you just want to work on tee shots and irons.
Disappointing
Greens are unbelievably bad and will have to be completely re done. One temp green. Worst I've seen in my 1000+ rounds of golf. Gonna be at least 24 months before I talk myself into going here again. Shame bc it's a great layout.
Winter conditions
Windy and cool day to play. Course was not in the condition I have seen in the past as grass is going dormant and greens were bumpy.
Quality fall golf at Forest Creek
Played Sunday afternoon as a 4-some. Started at 1:15 so we could finish before dark with the recent time change. Fairways and tee boxes in great shape for the most part. Greens were cut low and although there are coloration differences they are rolling smoothly and pretty consistent on speed. Make sure you don't get above the hole because the downhill putts are pretty quick. We played in 4 hrs 10 minutes, which on a Sunday afternoon is pretty good. You may only hit driver 4 or 5 times out here, it is a shot makers course and pay attention to the distances you need off the tees. Always a challenging layout and take plenty of golf balls because there are lots of trees and creeks that are in play!
The club house has your essential golf gear and the 19th hole has what you need to survive; reasonably priced drinks, hot dogs, sausage wraps... but don't expect on gourmet dining!
Middle of the road public north of Austin
We couldn't get a tee time on the Austin munis last minute, and didn't want to splurge on Avery or Star Ranch, so we opted for the middle ground at Forest Creek, which is a solid $50 weekend play. It's a course I've played a few times, and it is reliable. The hole variety is decent with some nice trees and roll to the land, but frankly the design leaves a little to be desired; there just aren't that many really cool holes and the whole course just kinda blends together. It's kept in better shape than the ATX munis and there is a great practice area here. Courses nearby like Star Ranch and Teravista have Forest Creek beat, but it's much better than Blackhawk. I don't think you'll be disappointed though, the course gets the job done.
Greens good condition and weather was cool
The course was in good condition. Lots of watering fairway and greens. Challenging at times, but plays fair for the average golfer.
Great price
Pretty challenging course, but was fun with all the blind tee shots!
Solid little track
I've played this course a few times always in fair to good shape. Lots of doglegs and placement shots needed. No frills in the shop or grill. Been playing twilight and haven't seen a bev cart yet. Can't beat a 3 1/2 hr twilight round for $20.
Maybe Round Rock's most challenging
Great course that can jump up and bite you if you don't focus.
Good course, greens being airated.
I liked the course, but you have to hit fairways. The fringes of the fairway is so thick, it's hard to find your ball. Very difficult to get ball out of the "rough".
Some of the best greens in ATX
Always a pleasure to play. Course is shorter and nothing too special about it but nothing bad at all. They do have some of the best greens in the Austin area. Fast, smooth and receptive.
Pleasantly Surprised!
Really like everything about this course as my 4 star rating in every category will attest, The best part though was the sub-5-hour round (4 hours and 40 minutes) with a mid-Saturday morning tee time. Waited on the first couple of holes where I thought it was going to be a 5+ hour round, but then things seem to move right along until a backup on the 18th hole. All and all, a very pleasant golf experience.

Everything was great!!!!!
A challenge
For my first time being there...I didn't do to bad...I had a GPS app and a group that has played there before to help. I am a solid 13 handicap. I had a good time playing, the layout is interesting. Beautiful setting amongst a beautiful neighborhood. Greens were soft...fairways set because of the week of rain before. Numerous doglegs, a couple play almost 90 degrees and one turns 2 corners. I would definitely play there again. The price was right. I did lose 2 balls only because I took chances when I needed to lay up. Good luck.
Poor supervision & dangerous conditions
Actual neighborhood joggers on cart paths. Children playing in water hazards as you are trying to make a shot without hitting them. Pace of play worse as any muni course. Oblivious staff Marshall.
