Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

It’s ok
Forest Creek was my favorite course in Central Texas. I still like the layout & challenge, however the greens still need work & the new management team is not nearly as friendly as the previous staff members. I still enjoy the course, but overall it’s not as good as it used to be.
Phenomenal Course
A lot of Austin courses seem to be having issues with their greens this year but Forest Creek is far from that. Great greens, great fairways, great carts and great staff. Everyone’s super friendly, prices are a bargain in my opinion. Even a domestic beer is $4 which is unheard of at a course around the Austin vicinity. I highly recommend Forest Creek, we’ve been here about 10 times and will continue visiting. The only complaint I’d have is we’ve gotten behind a couple slow groups a couple times but that’s literally every course, I’m not one to blame the golf club themselves unless it’s a constant issue. Overall, hats off to the Forest Creek team.
One of the best courses in the Austin area
This had to be one of the best experiences I’ve had at a new golf course. Course was kept up and challenging for a high handicap player like me.
Not what it used to be
The course did not do well this winter, but the greens are relatively decent now. The pace of play continues to be exceptionally slow at 4.5 hours plus. The range is abysmal
The hardest mats you could imagine. Overall service and value has declined tremendously.
Always love playing here
My buddy and I play here every few months. Always get your money's worth. Free range balls and lunch.
Rough is Crazy
Please mow the rough !!! People are spending 10-15 minutes looking for their balls ! Pace of play is suffering because of this !
Great Layout
The course has a great layout. The extra 30 fee for bringing along my wife was a surprise to us,as other nice courses usually let you have a rider for free.
The pace of play was very slow because of the popularity of the course. It is worth the slow play with the layout that they have. I would return and recommend to anyone. The staff was great.

Rained out
Rained out, but still can’t get a rain check because I booked through GolfNow. This review is more for GolfNow than Forest Creek.
The most RUDE AND TERRIBLE staff
The old man working at the club house desk was the most rude and borderline racist person I’ve ever met at a golf course before. Slammed the cart keys in front of my face and threw the receipt at me. The course was good and if it wasn’t for him I would definitely return, but just because of him I will never go back nor recommend to anyone. Bummer because I’ve been looking for a course to get a membership at and I would choose this one if it wasn’t for the terribly unfriendly staff. Management needs to get rid of him or something because that ruined my whole round. Never in my life have a felt so disrespected.
Good Test
Have always enjoyed the layout and test of FCGC. While the 90 degree turns require extra course management, the clear out of some trees in 2023 allow for better sight lines. Greens are coming back from a winter disease and good to see the staff hard at work to better them. Tough but fair test of golf with Forest lined fairways & creeks to cross.
April24
Course was in good shape except the greens were mostly very patchy and in some areas there was no grass. Other greens had large sodded areas making chipping and putting only possible by moving the ball. If the greens can Make a comeback the course will be in nice shape.
Greens gone
Do yourself a favor and play elsewhere. The greens are completely gone. Cannot believe they are charging what they are for this course currently. Shame cause it used to be one of my favs.
Nice Track
Really liked the layout. Greens are hurting BUT management is trying to correct the situation. Everything else made for a good day.
Bad service
Booked a tee time a week in advance like I usually do just to find out course is closed for maintenance. No notification was given and tee times were still available for this day on golf now. Drove over an hour to play and was told pretty rudely I was SOL. Course told me they were unable to offer any refund for money paid so I’m out the booking fees I paid. Out of principle this is an awful way to do business and I won’t be going back to this course.
