SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
About
Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas, located only 15 minutes from San Antonio's Riverwalk, has quickly gained a reputation as being some of the best golf in Texas. The layout covers 262 scenic acres of rolling hills covered in mature oaks and cedar trees. The challenging golf course features tree-lined fairways and carefully contoured greens. There are also lakes and creeks, both dry and wet, coming into play throughout the golf course. The front nine's signature hole is the par-5 sixth, which has 20 acres of water bordering the entire left side, while the back nine's signature is the par-4 15th, which is considered the toughest hole on the golf course. This 446-yard hole features an elevated green that is guarded by a large bunker on the left and two creeks crossing the fairway.

Greens are always Good!
Course was in good condition! (Usually is)
Cart path only kinda slowed things down but was a beautiful day.
Looking Good
Awesome Staff from check in at Pro Shop, Bar to cart service on the course. Course is in Top condition and has that challenge threw out you want to tackle. Be back soon to play again like next week. Keep it up Silverhorn
Delay Updates
There needs to be a way for a participating course and GolfNow to notify a customer of an imposed frost or weather delay. As the weather turns colder, this will become more likely on many courses in the area. With the technology present, it should not be too difficult to notify GolfNow players via a simple email that their tee-time is delayed, whether it is 30 min, 45, min, or an hour. This ability to update players would be a very nice addition to the GolfNow experience.
There was a moderate distraction today with the sprinklers running on the greens during play.
Pace of play was typical for a weekend on Silverhorn, taking roughly five hours.
Overall, Silverhorn is a nice, fairly challenging place to play. I would recommed it to others and look forward to playing there again in the future.
Wonderful Course
I’m vacationing here in San Antonio and have played most of the high end golf courses, but for whatever reason I never played Silverhorn. Wow!! Was I amazed at the course conditions and scenic layout. Wild deer were everywhere just mingling like we weren’t even there, totally fascinating!! They greens had been aerated and were sandy but it didn’t effect the speed of the greens. I will definitely include this one in my rotation on future vacation excursions.
Greens sanded and watered during round
I have played courses undergoing maintenance before. I expect to encounter that from time to time. Aerating and other maintenance must be done. But the greens at this course on the day I played it were terrible; not even worth the approximate $27 Golfnow Hot Deal I bought. Had I known the conditions, I would definitely have booked elsewhere. The greens had rows of sand on them about 3 feet apart. The sand was not evenly distributed; it was in rows. Every green was like that. The ball rolled unevenly. To make matters worse, the greens were being watered DURING THE ROUND. So, not only were the greens sandy, they were wet as well. I've been playing golf for 34 years and never encountered such poor conditions. I think a course should be temporarily closed under such conditions. If I ever go back to Silverhorn Golf Club, it will be a long time away. Also, I will try try to avoid Hot Deals in the future because the last two courses I have bought them at were under such maintenance/repair that they were not worth the Hot Deal price.
Nice place to play
Staff were fantastic. A third member came late and we were assured not to worry, wherever we were they would bring him out. Great customer service. We used the hot deal.
All around outstanding!
Outstanding course, layout, conditions & value. No two holes alike & in excellent condition. Greens incredible. Only negative were the threesome ahead were etiquittely clueless. Would like to see a marshall.
The course condition most times are good.
The course condition most times are good. It is a challenge being wooded on most holes. Pace of play can be slow because the wooded areas. Putting greens are in most cases well manicured. Having a Port-o-Potty instead of a rest room facility cheapens the course. The cost to play is a bit high compared to other courses in the area (Republic, Quarry, Alamo City). Restaurant food and beverage prices are reasonable. Would play the course more if the green fees were less expensive.
Nice course but needs marshalls
Overall this was a nice layout and a very affordable course. The pace of play was terrible! I teed off at 2:45 and actually left the course at 7:15 after completion of hole 16. There were young children driving carts with their parents and the group in front of us was throwing a baseball between holes. I never saw a Marshall the entire time.
Fun Rainy Round of Golf
Rain or shine we love playing golf and that we did on a extremely raining day at Silverhorn...even in the soggy conditions the course was in top shape..5 star Course!!!!!
Lots of deer on the course
Great course. Keeping the ball in the fairway is a must. A must play course if your in town. Friendly deer on the course that loves crackers. Will take the out of your hand. No homes on the corse to hit you balls into. Lots of mature trees. Greens are in great shape and the speed is consistent. Have played it 3 times in 2 months . Always played in 4 hours or less
Nice course for the money
Course was in good shape throughout. Personal where pleasant and professional.
Great conditions, slow play
The course was in great shape but play was slow; expected for a weekend round but that day was exceptionally slow due to a four man scramble. Definitely will play again but like to see the pace of play closer to 4 hours, maybe 4:15 hours but definitely not 5 hours.
Solid
Weather was awesome. Every green was fast and consistent. It is a tough driving course with narrow fairways. The course played tough but it was very nice out. Played fast and deer every where. It's a solid course and a pretty good value all around.
