Canyon Springs Golf Club

I enjoyed playing here. The course layout is a lot of fun and the greens were superb.

We did have an issue with some slow play, but the group let us play through and we were on our way.

It would take a few round to get used to the subtlety of the breaks in the greens, but I will play here again.

This is a really nice track. The staff is friendly as well. However the play was slow because we teed off before a shotgun start tournament…big mistake. I left after 9 holes because the Marshall couldn’t do anything to speed up play of this corporate tournament.

In town for a convention and decided to get out and play. Tee time was at 2:30. I know it’s Friday afternoon, but someone in the Friday golf group ahead of us was a human rain delay. A 5 hour and 15 minute round in 105 degree heat wasn’t fun.

The course layout is Awesome! Pace of play..not so much!!!

Staff was exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Course is challenging but well kept and greens were very fast. Only negative were some spots were a little wet from the sprinklers, but otherwise a great course overall and will be back.

We play this course because it is close by but to be fair this course is not for beginners nor people still learning. On some holes, which are flat, the grass in front of the tee boxes is so high you cannot see the fairway unless you’re maybe Wemby’s height.. if your ball goes in there forget it because you’ll never find it. And to be clear some of those carries to the fairway are 180+ yards if you play from middle to back tees.

The greens are almost like pitching or putting in to your driveway. They are so fast that a simple 8i putting stroke shot from just off the green runs by five or so feet past the flag when previous rounds it would settle within a foot.

The sand was in good shape as were the fairways and tee boxes. The fairways were so nice I honestly felt bad leaving a divot

In this heat, water is in very short supply. They had water jugs set up by the bathrooms but there are no ball wash not club cleaning stations. There is also no water to be consumed anywhere else in the course. When it’s 103 at 3pm, unless you packed your own water/sport drink from home or thought ahead to buy several bottles from their snack shop, you will have to wait until you find the beverage cart to procure more drinks.

But the staff seems friendly and helpful. The snack shop people are pleasant as are the beverage cart staffers.

My playing partner and I have played here since the early 2000’s. We are rethinking playing this course because 5 hour rounds are not fun.

I am extremely impressed by all aspects of this course. The course itself is in great condition, presents unique hill country-esque challenges with a fun design, and it doesn’t hurt the wallet too bad considering the fair rates. The fairways felt like carpet and the greens rolled quick and true. The staff was friendly and helpful. I’ve been playing golf in South Texas for 4 years now and this is by far the best course I’ve played based on course conditions alone; the reasonable rates make it that much more appealing!

We played Canyon Springs for the first time. The course conditions were extremely good, especially given the drought and 105 temp.

Everyone we had contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The pro shop was well stocked and the people working there couldn’t be any nicer.

My one negative about the course would be the roughs. If you hit any wayward shots that did not hold the fairway/ intermediate rough, it was lost. The grass in this area was knee to mid thigh deep and thick. There was no finding your ball. This rough area lined every hole and was way to severe. I can’t believe the members allow it to exist in that capacity.

Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back. Only with more balls!!!
