La Loma at Fort Sam Houston Golf Course
About
The La Loma course is one of two 18-hole, championship courses at the historic Fort Sam Houston. The facility hosted the Texas Open in the '50s and '60s, making it the only military facility to ever host a PGA event. La Loma has its fair share of challenges but overall the other course at the club, Salado del Rio, is the more demanding of the two. The fairways are tree-lined but not as tight as on the other golf course, lending a more forgiving quality to La Loma. The greens are medium in both size and speed and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout the course. Fort Sam Houston also has a practice chipping green and a lighted driving range for golfers to use.

This course moderately challenging
Played La Loma gold and red tees with my wife. We normally play 9 hole par 3 but decided to that we were up for an 18 hole challenge. Played a relaxing round since players ahead and behind were well paced. Picked up a quick hot snack and couple of cold ones at the turn. Will definitely be back to play again.
Terrific greens
Except for the bunkers. La Loma track is in the best shape I have ever seen it.
Great job Ft Sam!
PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The club house person was the rudest "Not my problem brother" piece of crap I have ever encountered at a golf facility!!!!! I guess they didn't give him a block of instruction that "YOU WORK FOR THE CUSTOMER!!"
Good
Good golf course, good condition. Could be better. For the price although, you can’t beat it.
Much improved!
Lo LindaGreens were nice and good grass in fairways.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Stay away from this course!!! Made a tee time on Golfnow. When I git there I was told it would be hour and a half to 2 hour wait!!!!! There was a tournament going on and had to wait "brother"... Told him I made a golfnow reservation and was ready to start. Response "Didn't you read the fine print Brother?" "It says to call the golf course Brother"
" I am not going to wait 2 hours to play when my tee time is in 15 minutes"
"Not my problem Brother..." "Call golfnow and let them deal with it Brother"
"Website has wide open tee time on it!"
I told you NOT my problem brother...."
Give me a refund then
"Can't brother not my problem... call golfnow Brother to get a refund Brother..."
"Why did you give them all these tee times if you have a tournament going on??"
"It's a Federal computer Brother I can't contact them brother" "you have to contact them Brother, not my problem Brother!"
To sum it all up..... Government worker who doesn't care, Doesn't know how tee times work, could care less about customer service, and basically UNFIT FOR THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BROTHER!!!
All I can say is you have been warned!! Thousands of people unemployed right now and this is the best you can find on a government facility??????!!!!!! HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED BROTHER!!!!!!
NIce Course-Nice Day
Enjoyable visit as always. Course is still coming back from winter as fairways greening up more. Greens
are not hard and challenging.
Decent value, but the course is in rough shape
As the title states, for the money it’s an ok track. The issue was most of the course was hard pan. I found this out after jamming my hands during a 85 yard wedge shot. Pace of play was horrid. Several groups “playing through” who proceeded to show me how much of a hack they were forcing my round into 4 and a half hours of waiting. This was after their 10 am tee became a 0935 tee by their own doing. I was held up the entire time by a group of older men who decided to play loud music off their cart, poor course management, and overall terrible course etiquette. Needless to say I won’t be returning. This was one of the worst outings I have had in recent memory. With that said, if you’re a 100+ golfer, go. It’s cheap, course isn’t too difficult and the staff was great.
FYI driving range is mats only.
