Epsom golf club

First of all the course was in brilliant condition for January and honestly played liked it was the middle of summer, pace of play was very slow, not sure if it was over booked or just unlikely that it happened to be slow players out. The views around the course are stunning and would definitely come back again

Great greens big test

Is this course short? Yep

Is there any bunkers? Just 1 on the 18th

Is the course layout a little confusing? Yes could be sign posted better but there is such thing as a scorecard with a MAP!!!

would you play here again? ABSOLUTELY this may have been my first time but this course battererd me if you are not on your day and accurate this course will eat you up. You cant aim for the flag as the greens undulate so much and it makes the game so much more exciting to make up for its shortness. Flags situated in a bowl in the middle of down hill greens mean your short game better be on point, 3-4 putts are as common as a 28 handicapper shank off the tee and the greens are a test of touch and ability. Majority of people will play over there handicap I can guarantee here as accuracy and short game is king and I ask how many people that have left a review have played to there handicap or better, not many I guarantee. The tee boxes set you up for failure if you do not adjust accordingly to the actual direction of the fairway which is where most people will fail.

Get your set up right, your short game and course management on point and you may stand a chance of not being beat up by a challenging and rewarding course. Also bring a spare pair of trousers in case you get a hole in one.

Ok course but a bit of a mishmash

Course is in good condition but it’s a bit all over the place with lots of road crossing. Also be aware that there’s bridle ways and footpaths crossing the course so be careful when teeing off near the trees. Overall an ok experience with good views into London, one to tick off the list

Short & unexciting with fast greens!

Short course with a lot of short 4s. Narrow fairways, however very limited number of challenging obstacles or bunkers making for quite a boring round. Quick pace of play but terrible course and tee directions. Greens where challenging and fast.

Epsom golf club

Good course to play but finding your way round first time wasn't easy. Could do with better signage all round the course.

Wasn't aware greens were under maintenance as only booked the evening before and it did make putting hard work but for £18 can't moan.

I've heard complaints previous about the lack of bunkers but don't let that put you off, there's more than enough trouble you can find all over the course. Some of the rough you'd need a excavator more than a golf iron.

Fun to play though.

Short but challenging.

I’ve played this course a Number of times in all seasons, it drains very well in the winter and Can get baked hard in the summer meaning the ball runs for miles! While there are only 2 bunkers on the whole course both on the 18th it really doesn’t need them as the difficult sloping greens and cruel pin positions ensure any approach shot Is taken with consideration. The pace of play is generally very good as to be expected on a short course but it can get congested on the final 3 holes. The condition of the greens is always good but they never seem to be quite as quick as you’d expect. Overall it’s a nice little course and I’d recommend it to all.

Nice Course

Nice - except I have reservations about whether people were playing without paying on the back 9.. as they randomly appeared and disappeared.

Also came back to my wing mirror having been bent backwards in the course car park.. when I was parked in a bay and not obstructing anyone which are reasons someone may justify doing that..

Slight disappointment in what was a nice course.

Good value winter golf, more signage needed, remarkably dry after bad weather.

Great choice for wet winter days

Played midweek in mid-Jan, following prolonged period of rain. Amazed at how unsoggy the course was given the recent awful weather - nice fairways, greens quite slow but true. Also v friendly club pro, and characterful old-style clubhouse. Only reservation would be compact nature of layout, with several overlapping holes - fine when the course was quiet (as it was for me), but could get lively/dangerous when busy!

Best Winter & Short Game Course in Surrey

After playing Selsdon on Saturday (16/11/19) the course was so boggy, semi-rough was like a swap and even the fairways were muddy, it was an absolute delight to be able to play Epsom the following day. Condition of the greens and fairways were like playing in Portugal! Walked off with no mud what so ever on the buggie, up my legs or indeed my face. Without a doubt the best winter course in surrey. The greens are immaculate and very fast. The only complaint is the signposting is poor but if you refer back to your scorecard directions are perfectly clear. Not only that but members were more than helpful in advising and very welcoming and chatty having stopped in the clubhouse after for a beer. If you are looking to improve your short game and certainly putting and keen to bare it in all weathers, this is the course for you. Excellent and highly recommended. The only reason not five stars on value for money is the lack of bunkers. (only 2 on the 18th) so people would struggle to improve their bunker play should this be their aim of playing the course. Also the pace of play was good until the 17th when there was a bit of a traffic jam.

£5 would be a fair price

We accidentally skipped half the holes because the signage is non-existent. After a member informed us of this we were so underwhelmed by the course that we didn’t bother rectifying our mistake. The reviews described the greens as ‘lightening fast’ but this could only be true if compared to putting in a meadow. The whole experience was basically terrible - find another course
