Banstead Downs Golf Club

Plenty of interesting holes with lots of strategically placed bunkers. Fairways in decent condition despite the weather. Tee boxes and greens very good. Good practice facilities before with nets, putting green and chipping green. Friendly pro in the shop before and good service behind the bar after.

Had a lovely round yesterday...the course is fantastic, the staff are suoer friendly amd accommodating...proper old-school club with a vast clubhouse, extensive practice facilties..only tiny let down was the bankers were pretty much devoid of sand ( or the sand had been badly raked away from the bse and towards the edges in some cases ) but in these times of drought etc the course was nothing shirt of excellent

Junior competition on in the morning made playing in the early afternoon extremely slow. Would’ve been nice to have known in advance.

Not great either walking across a very busy carriageway after the first 6-7 holes either. Well looked after course and friendly staff with quick greens, but not the best experience overall and debating whether to come back. 17th par 3 is beautiful.

Maybe another day it will be very different.

Friendly staff in pro shop and bar. Course in decent condition considering the amount of rain we've had in Jan & Feb. However, £70 is a lot of money to play in damp and muddy conditions. Trolleys allowed which was good. Overall good winter course if somewhat expensive.

Super friendly staff...great facilities, proper.clubhouse,practice areas...and the course is excellent...

Being on chalk.you can play all year around,unlike many of the more celebrious courses nearby which close at the first time sign of rain !

Greens are really good,a proper test for golfers of all ability...

Steve the club pro is a lovely guy, super friendly and has a great pro shop.

We were looking for somewhere new to play and Banstead had always been on my radar, rumour had it as a good quality course.

I can confirm the course is in amazing condition, great greens, surrounds and tee boxes. Weather has made all fairways a little iffy but preferred lies resolved any issues with that, generally they weee in good condition as were the bunkers.

If you can get on here for £40 or under it’s excellent value, but I would gladly pay £60 - all I would say is that it was busy but at least pace of play was decent!

Play Banstead down the first time, green are well maintained, fairways is brown and hard because of the dry weather. I look forward to play again when the weather gets better.

Tricky holes where you need to think what club needs using, not just a bombing driver down the middle course.

The only negative was the bare fairways but it's understandable due the very hot summer we've had.

Great greens and lots of bunkers.

I think a lot of courses have suffered from the wet winter and then incredibly dry March. The fairways were patchy and the greens had recently been hollow tined. That being said, the course has a good layout with well placed bunkers that were well maintained and at over 6000 yards is a challenge for the shorter hitters. I will come back and play it again, but maybe when it’s had a chance to recover.

Really enjoyed the course considering the weather we have had I could not find any fault. Greens were very difficult to read. I repaired more than just my pitch marks and I still fail to understand if you like playing the game respect the course.
