Bit of a let down
Really looked forward to playing here as had heard good things. Didn’t start well in the pro shop as we felt like we were an inconvenience to the lady in the shop who wasn’t welcoming at all. The course itself was quite a pleasant walk but far too many blind shots and holes that criss cross. Also it was all a bit scruffy with the tees in particular being in poor condition and the greens quite bobbly and inconsistent. My playing partner and I both commented on the number of unrepaired divots and pitch marks. The bunkers are quite frankly appalling but that seems to be the norm during the current situation however those at my home course are immaculate. Nipped in for a quick pint at the end and almost choked when I parted with £12.20 for two pints
Of Moretti!!!!
Great course and good value
Played the Hawkstone course for the second time and thoroughly enjoyed it again. Plenty of challenging holes that require some thought and strategy but not so difficult as to take all the fun out of it. The greens weren't in the best condition but that seems to be the case with most courses at the moment and is probably more a reflection of the Coronavirus situation than it is the green keepers.
Fantastic Course - Exceptional value for money
Played as a four ball. Course was in fantastic condition. The greens were so true and fast. For the money spent, this was easily one of the best courses I've played on. We will be looking to return soon.
A well designed course
Playing at Hawkstone was a real pleasure . This is a challenging and well designed course which is a good test for all standards of golfers.
The greens ran very true , fairways were in good condition, and the overall setting of the course and local scenery adds further to an enjoyable round
The Hawkestine
Fantastic course with views to die for. Front nine holes are very parkland with. Challenges then back nine has some really picturesque holes including a downhill par three with water to the side looking like a top PGA course. New clubhouse very stylish with a sun terrace view of the 18th green.
Surprise
Such a fun little challenging course. Didn't have a clue where the pro shop was to check in haha, but the course its self was so much better than i expected. Will definitely play again.
Society golf day
Played both the Championship and Hawkstone courses over a blistering weekend. Set up is excellent and the course was in a brilliant condition. Food in the clubhouse was beautiful. With the exciting plans in place I look forward to coming back again in the future.
Enjoyed the course, the back nine more than the front.
The greens and around them where in good condition.
The fairways, bunkers and rough on the front nine not so good (back nine was better).
Changing rooms need a refurb everything feels a little tired, except the Clubhouse which is nice.
Awesome course, few things stopped the 5 star
In a nutshell....Highly recommend this course, go and play it. Set in a gorgeous patch of Shropshire countryside where the holes meander their way up around the centre piece of the follies. Some really interesting holes with well guarded greens and each hole offers something that bit different. Only negatives for me were the completely unresponsive and unwelcoming staff - for a course of that class, a warm welcome and some form of guidance about where to go would have been nice. Also we hired a buggy to find out it was £30 which for the condition of the buggy was a bit steep I thought. The holes are quite tight in together which some people may not like but not an issue for us. All in all, a great course and will definitely be going back
Disappointed. Very rude members
Very rude members got extremely irrate when we asked to play through because of very slow play. After two altercations from different groups, we politely left the course and ended our round after the 6th hole. Very unimpressed with the members however the clubhouse staff we very kind.
Perfect
Great Condition considering the rain this week no tempory tees or greens pace really good fresh air along with a good walk and some moments of brillant golf.
Looking forward to the Hotel reopening back to its former glory.
Thunder & Lightening, very very frightening
Second time I have played this course this year, both times it's poured down.Greens under water in no time.Course is most enjoyable ,not especially long which is good. Will go back again.
Fabulous scenic course, some great holes.
Bagged a bargain round, in what has to be one of the nicest courses in the Midlands, course was in excellent condition, especially the greens, given the prolonged dry spell that preceeded our round. Make sure you play the Hawkstone, as the scenery is simply stunning, not a long course (even from the back tee's), but plenty of shape and lots of blind holes, and "strategy " golf required. Course was very quiet, and after four holes the three ball in front of us called us throu and we were able to play at a very comfortable pace ( 3:15 for all 18 holes).
My only major gripe.......and it is really a major gripe, is that at £3,40 for a pint of diet coke, the drink prices are far too steep!
