Very nice and easy course.
This is a nice parkland course with some water features that is very pretty. The greens are fantastic, but the fairways are still pretty dried out. The course plays easy as errant tee shots are always findable on adjoining fairways. Pace of play was slow at 4 1/2 hours. The other, "Hawkstone" course is older and more expensive, FYI.
Good course but untidy
Played when really hot, greens were good and looked after but the rest of the course was a bit untidy compared to when I’ve played this course before.
4pm tee
Absolutely fantastic course well worth the visit😁😁😁😁
Going Downhill
Disappointed by the state of this once premium course, lack of attention to green surrounds and tees, some yellow tees off the ladies boxes. Management of the course is poor and quality of greens has deteriorated, it's become a municipal.
Members must be up in arms with all the divots, pitch marks, worn out areas and generally poor condition, there are many drainage issues that need resolving.
They seem to be keen to get your money with buggy hire and high prices in the bar for what is a very average offering.
Great course, smooth greens
Championship course was playing nicely, greens we'll kept, really enjoyed the day.
Good Course but ruined by pace of play and general course etiquette
Course was in good condition. Great layout with differing holes.
Golf balls were flying everywhere with no shouts of fore. Pace of play was poor with a 4 ball not allowing 2 balls to play through despite waiting on every tee box and every fairway for them to finish every putt from the 5th hole did rather ruin the experience this day. 4 hours 40 minutes in the end for a two ball teeing off at 7:30am!
Great course
Great course ,
For a first visit couldn't of gone better , staff were excellent course is well laid out and was in perfect condition.
Hodges party 27/28 April 24.
Just a note to thank you from the Hodges party for an excellent weekend of golf, your staff from Reception Pro shop and catering staff were professional and made our stay that bit special. We couldn’t have asked for better weather that also made the trip that little bit more enjoyable. Please thank them all for looking after us they were a credit to you. Hopefully we will be booking again in the not to distant future. Best regards Derek Hodges.
Championship course
Course was in terrible condition greens were unplayable
Such a shame
Now I’ve played at Hawkstone a number of times taking in both courses on multiple occasions having always enjoyed the golf on offer. This morning was no different, helped by playing nicely, the weather being ok and being first off a really good pace of play. I prefer the old course but the Championship course is still a good and enjoyable challenge although I would say I find the closing stretch of 4 or 5 holes to be a relatively easy finish and they do feel like they’ve been squeezed in to complete the second 18.
The issue I had today, and this will only get worse I fear over the next couple of days, is the condition of the fairways and the aprons. I feel as though the course has made a serious error of judgement by not pulling the availability of buggies after the recent wet conditions. A number of fairways and aprons were tyre rutted this morning from yesterdays play (I was first off today) and I suspect this will only get worse today and into the weekend as a lot of the ground is saturated. I appreciate that buggies generate a lot of income but this is to the detriment of the condition of the course which I fear will result in players complaining. I’m never one to complain but I did seriously consider going back into the pro shop post round to raise this concern especially given the full price green fee I paid.
Excellent and interesting course
Played this course at the end of July after a lot of wet weather and was pleasantly surprised. Good condition challenging and interesting. The greens were a little quirky and wooly but that was only to be expected given the weather. The course seemed to drain reasonably well with little casual water around. I would definitely recommend.
Great course
Fantastic course which was in great condition, the greens rolled very well and enjoyed the variation of the narrow fairways of the parkland front 9 and more open tee shots on the back 9. Would recommend and will play again. Great value for money with the afternoon green fees.
