Enjoyable Golf Course
Really enjoyed our afternoon out at Headley . Intriguing course in peaceful Yorkshire countryside Clever use of the viaduct makes standing on the 4th tee an exceptional experience. Friendly Staff and a drink on the veranda enjoying the view capped off a great day . Thanks.
Headley Golf Club
First time playing at Headley. The course was in great condition. There was one temporary green in play due to some work going on. The greens were quite fast. The walking is quite challenging at times especially the 17th as you get close to completing your round. As the course makes good use of the contours you often find yourself with the ball above or below your feet.
Late booking
Overall good course, some big hills as well, we needed a breather before teeing off on one of them. Still really enjoyed it. We will be going again definitely.
unusual facilities
This was the first time we had played the course and to be honest it isn't making us thinking of going back again. I understand it was still winter t's and we had to use fairway matt's but there was no direction signs, yardage markers, maps on the card to show us the direction, Overall it was quite un organised.
I would imagine once its organised better and the correct signage and maps etc it would be a great course to play.
The clubhouse and staff were good and as help full as they could but once out on the course we found ourselves playing blind and having to rely on other golfers to give us directions etc.
Headley pursuit
Picturesque surroundings with some lovely, tricky, tight holes - the spectacular viaduct tees on 4 are a gem! Fantastic swanky club house/function venue and well kept course with many improvements still ongoing. Leg burner hills, little confusing hole by hole at first (some more signage please) and maybe not to the taste of long drive belters but I'll definitely be back(perfect for twilight 9s) Very friendly host and members, slightly slow in their senior years but happy to allow playing through. Give it a try for as little as £8.99 on golfnow 👍🏻
Great value for money.
Great value for money. Very hilly. Two holes in particular have the slope running across the fairway which really hurts my ankles. The ball also runs across the slope regardless of how good or bad your drive might be. The walk from the lower two holes on the course to the seventh tee is particularly demanding uphill.
The grass on the greens is fairly coarse and not cut very short making the greens relatively slow. The fairways on some of the holes are tight and it is necessary to drive accurately on these holes.
I would play the course again, ( but not rush back ) because it represents great value for money and a challenge. I would like to see how it plays in the Summer. I wouldn’t recommend the course to my friends as some of them might find the vagaries too much to bear.
Cheap and cheerful
Only discovered this course recently, I’ve been missing out, for a nine hole course it has its challenges, greens in good condition, fairways plenty of life, and for the money excellent value, will definitely play here again 🏌️♂️
Wet afternoon
First time we have played Headley, great conditions despite the rain. Nice place to play
Snobby place for what it was
Was a nice course and great for golfers who are experienced but if you are not and you are sort of in a phase of trying to increase difficulty of course I wouldn’t recommend. We were looked down on heavily by groundsman and they were watching our every swing putting us off playing properly.
A challenge
First time playing there course in v good condition green were very good the course isn't very long but it was a challenge plenty of ups and downs not a flatbed of a course would recommend and will definitely play again
Great scenery, hidden challenges.
Although only a 9 hole course, Headley provides plenty of variety, esp if you do 18 holes with varied tees on some holes changing how the course plays on the back 9.
This is extremely competitively priced for 18 holes (in fact I don't think it can be beaten locally).
The course is in great condition and the greenskeeper has done a superb job noting the wet weather over the last few months. What's more he was incredibly friendly and chatty when I played and chatted to me about the course - a total credit to Headley golf course.
The actual course, being split on 2 levels does demand a degree of fitness and stamina!! That said you will be rewarded with some great scenery and challenging holes. Teeing off between the arches of a viaduct is not something most golfers will do. The course is not the flattest so be prepared for your ball to roll down quite a lot (though adds to the complexity of the round). All in all great value, great scenery and a great workout!
Finally, a nod to the lady in the Clubhouse, warm and friendly greeting received, good instructions for a first-time player on the course layout.
A little gem
Played Headley on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised it was so quiet as it’s great value for money m. A lovely course in good condition with some really interesting holes , and tee locations. The sound of the tee shot underneath the viaduct was amazing
I am here all week and sure to pay another visit
Thank you
Good course, tough to get around
The first 3 holes are very nice holes. You then have to go down a very rugged track to play 4,5,6 and 7 and back up the rugged track for holes 8 and 9. Only £10 and worth the money though
