Great Condition
Decided to play Halifax after I had read some very good reviews.
After all the bad weather past few weeks, course in great condition, good lay out, fantastic holes, look forward to playing again.
Gem
Lovely course that meanders through a valley. Not the longest but layout means the greens are well protected and you won’t be able to bomb the driver off every tee. Held up well for December. Will definitely return in the summer as views are fantastic.
Great course
This is a really challenging course and even though I played terribly still enjoyed it. Lovely condition considering the weather has been VERY wet. Highly recommended
If you like a golfing challenge, this is for you !
Our second time tackling this wonderfully located course and we had perfect autumn conditions, a bit wet and a bit windy but nothing to stop a great round. Every hole is a very different challenge and I don't just mean length, we are talking every hazard imaginable meaning you need to pick and plan your way around the course. Apparently if you have 8 stableford points after 4 holes you are having a great round. My 4 points (off 10 handicap) didn't cut it and then you hit hole 5 which is SI 1 eek ! If I am being honest, on a windy rainy day this course could destroy a player who is not in control of their shots. At £20 in good conditions its an absolute steal and the views are absolutely stunning. If you prefer thinking golf you will enjoy, if you want to smash a ball straight down a fairway and then wedge in to a green without thought, maybe this isn't for you. You have to try it to find out !
Fantastic Course - Definitely One To Visit
Last game before lockdown had to be somewhere new. I'd heard some good stories about Halifax GC so decided this would the venue of our last game for at least 4 weeks.
It didn't disappoint.
The course is fairly undulating but the variety of holes is superb and the braid/mckenzie design combination makes good course management essential and a good putting game a necessity.
Despite being early November this heathland course had stood up to recent rain really well and wasn't at all, with all summer greens and tee boxes still in play. Everywhere on the course has fantastic views of the surround area and as the round progresses you get a birds eye view of the holes that you've already played and the ones to come.
Mention has to be made of the par 3 17th. We played 135 of the yellows, which may seem easy until you realise the green is 30 yards below the level of the tee. Quite rightly judged one of the top 50 par 3's in the UK.
All in all a fabulous experience and a round to remember until lockdown is over.
My only criticism would be that none of the flagsticks had ball retrievers that you flick up with your putter to get your ball out of the hole meaning that it was hands in the hole time. In the current climate this is really poor bearing in mind the very small cost of buying a set for the course (approx £300) or making a set out of plumbing supplies for about £30.
The course is all uphill to hole 12, the course is quite challenging and the strong winds didn’t help. But enjoyed the experience and would play again
Never Disappoints
The clocks had gone back Autumn is in full flow but this course is better now than others I have played in the height of summer
The greens are so well kept and the course is in my opinion the best in West Yorkshire
Superb day topped off with a friendly clubhouse fror a drink afterwards
Picturesque Golf Course
Conditions were perfect and this is a magnificent course set in beautiful countryside
The course is challenging and the up and downhill pathways to and from tees to green do test the old knee joints but wow is it worth the walk!
on one tee we were just about to tee off when a deer came crashing through a woodland fence and across the fairway right in front of us
Will definitely play this course again
Played for the first time
Fairways really good greens excellent very relaxed atmosphere very friendly members only down side for me is not a good choice of food
Well worth a visit playing again on Sunday
Gem of a course
Really one of the most interesting and best value courses in Yorkshire. Every hole offers something different and memorable and if you are lucky to play on a decent day, It's a massive treat! Awesome course.
Very different
You won’t be bored here. Lots of unusual holes, some stunning scenery and some frankly crazy tee shots. Didn’t know what club to use on the 17th, wedge-driver possible. It’s 4.8 out of 5 for a reason. Anything under £20 is a bargain, must play for that price. The pro was giving lessons before and after the round so getting a scorecard, refreshments may be an issue, not sure if that’s a one off. Strange to see lessons and practice on 1st and 18th holes but who cares it adds to the quirkyness!
Excellent day shame about the man in the pro shop
All great on the day except one far from helpful man in pro shop. He needs to increase his vocabulary to more than one word answers. Not much to ask if the club is be open to serve food. Answer no.. Will it open answer yes. When will it open answer sometime.

Absolutely sensational course on a scorching hot summer day. Literally like playing in the clouds. Quick greens. Lush fairways. Brutal rough. Superb challenge. Brilliant staff and members and views that have to be seen to be believed.
I’ll definitely go back.
Many thanks
Certainly not the last round here
The wet and blustery conditions could not detract from a challenging and thoroughly enjoyable here. A tough test without being unfair with a stunning backdrop and we will certainly be back very soon.
Cracking greens
Loved the value for money. These were £70 greens for £20. Course signage could perhaps be improved - I played the 10th thinking it was the 6th I believe. Will be back to play again but don't think I'd enjoy it as much in the wind as it's very exposed
First time and impressed.
Very challenging course requiring accurraccy off the tee. Don't bring your driver if you struggle with a hook / slice! Greens in grreat condition. If you struggle with injuries get a buggy because it is a tough walk. Can't wait to play it again especially now knowing the layout and what shot selection is required.
