Little bit windy
First off the staff or golf pro on this day was lovely, let us go out early and warned us of the impending wind soon we were about to take on.
Loved playing the course as a mid handicapper but it is tough, lots of slopes and blind shots especially on the front 9. For the time of year it was in fantastic condition with only one temp green in place. Looked like some emergency drainage work so never any issues with, bit of water in the cups but that’s about it.
The wind had other plans on the back 9, absolute chaos but it made it more fun for us. The views are spectacular, the wildlife deer and pheasants watching my ball be lost in the rough haha .
Great afternoon all around, think buggy and summer next time and I’ll be back for sure.
Best course for the brdtbprice
I hate to give it such a good review as more people will
Discover what we have!!
One of the best courses I have ever played, I keep coming back whenever I can. The more you play it the better it becomes
Buggy or electric trolley only!
Played Halifax for the first time. Staff in shop couldn't have been less helpful if he tried. Consequently we missed the yellow tee box off the first and it isn't the easiest course to navigate. Members were lovely and put us right. The course is fantastic a true test of golf with some beautiful scenery. With 198 meters of ascent according to my Garmin it is a test of fitness too. I would strongly recommend a buggy or electric trolley at the least. I won't spoil the surprise of the 17th but I have never seen a hole quite like it.
Thumbs up
Brilliant course. Great layout. Every hole different. Greens top notch. In great condition. Followed a couple of members and used them as guide by checking where they were tee to green. Best be ready for a hike though it's up some extreme up and downs and it will be tiring. 17th blows your socks off.
Played on hot deal using monthly tee credit plus 2 quid ... bargain of the century.
Link style winds
It was a nice course, the staff were very nice but…it was 40-50 mph winds and trying to hit the fairway was horrendous. Off the fairway there was sheer drops and brambles or rough grass up to your knees, so it was tough to manage. There was kids on the 15th green just sitting on the green and peoples kids walking on the 17th green. I went around 114 due to the winds and unforgiving terrain and winds. Not a good day.
Halifax Golf Club
Wonderful course not a bad hole on the course I would recommend a buggie if you don’t like hills it’s a must play and sensible priced worth a 40.00green fee .
Beautiful course - very difficult
We played the course in perfect conditions and it was still a tough test for average golfers. Each hole requires you to carefully navigate your way to the green. Almost no flat lies and the rough was very deep once your roll off the fairways.
Probably more suited to sub 10 handicappers or really good ball strikers. Would still like to give it another try
Gorgeous course
We played on a windy damp February afternoon. The course was in very good condition. The course and surroundings are stunning. Will definitely play there again
Will be back
Unbelievable course, the friendliest staff imaginable and all round great experience. Cannot wait to come back
Challenging course and not easy to navigate
Thoroughly enjoyable despite loads of water filled ditches. Weather was perfect and still conditions. Would be very difficult in the wind.
Great course
Great course in great condition. Tricky quick greens really enjoyed it.
Favourite course in Yorkshire
A magnificent course in great condition with stunning holes and views
Amazing hidden gem
A challenging and beautiful course. We turned up on captains day but all members were extremely welcoming. No snobbish behaviour a you may see at other clubs. The course was immaculate and you need to think about each shot carefully as there are well placed gulleys.
The 17th is a very unique hole. Will definitely be back to play again despite the course being over an hour away.
