Fantastic condition
The best condition of any course I have played at this time of year. The greens are fantastic.
Great course
Great course, mixture of different holes which makes you think about how you play and in great condition for November.
The only thing that let it down was 2 young kids playing music whilst looking for balls of think they picked up one of ours and walked off.
We weren’t told about course maintenance that happened during the week. Greens were air rated and full of sand. Plus price dropped to 50% of what we paid because of course maintenance
Hidden gem of a corse
Championship standard course, lush fairways, top notch greens, course layout and design excellent
Must return to play again now I know the layout.
The 18th par 5 is a stunner - straight shooting towards the 18th C House…fantastic
Best if you take a buggy but experienced golfers will enjoy this course even if carrying !
Long walks between tees
Interesting layout, could be maintained a bit better.
Stunning
What a beautiful and well constructed course, this sprawling 18 holes takes you on a wonderful journey through the grounds of the estate. Plenty of variation in hole design making use of the natural features of the grounds.
An absolutely must play, the only blemish would have to be the state of the bunkers, pretty much all of them needs clearing of weeks and rocks. That being said though, literally everything else about this course is fantastic and jaw dropping.
Heythrop park GC
We arrived and checked in , then proceeded to putting green for a practice. We started our round and found the course very pleasing to the eye . Fairways and greens were immaculate. My only criticism was of the bunkers and their contents, I thought in quite a few of them not enough sand. Also the quality of the sand was a little bit off putting. Overall we enjoyed our round immensely.
It's a long walk but worth it.
The course condition was excellent. Quite a revelation after the atrocious weather we've been having. The fairways were properly mown and the greens were excellent. The manager had a chat with us beforehand and warned us they were especially fast because of a professional comp the next day but it was fine. They ran true and it didn't bother us.
The course feels long because there are some long distances between holes. I would suggest you either hire a buggy or at least have an electric trolley and if not using a buggy ensure you have adequate food and drink.
Winter Golf
I couldn’t believe the condition of the course after all the rain. Only one corner of the course was wet. All greens were excellent and after mild frost even got a bit of run on 5he fairways. Only problem was a number of frozen water in bunkers which were GUR which helped my playing partner more than me :-)
Excellent course in January
Given most of the area is flooded we phoned arround and was surprised that Heythrop was fully open aith not temp greens or tees. Heythroup is a prestigious location that is worth a visit or stay given its hotel and manor house. The course is really tough, long and lots of walking so be prepared. It has some great, challenging holes that keep the round interesting. It does have long walks between some tees but never an issue for us. Given the time of year the course was in excellent condition. Green good, tees alittle scruffy but okay. Fairways were failry firm which allowed some roll. Overall we were very impressed that the course was in a very playable condition given the extremely wet weather. We will be back.
Only slight negative is that the old clibhouse has gone and if you want a post game drink you have to use the main hotel lobby bar. We did not bother so cannot comment but felt a little strange the previous stud bar is no longer in place,
A good challenge
Greens were great, especially with all the recent rain. Course is a good challenge with 18 very different holes. Our 4-ball teed off at 10am and finished at 2:30, despite the course being quiet. This is one of the longest walks of any course I’ve ever played. A buggy is seriously recommended. The first hole is a tight tee shot but after that the par 4s and 5s are very open off the tee. A good mix of par 3s.
I understand there’s work going on with the whole complex but very disappointing we couldn’t get a coffee anywhere at 9:45am on the weekend.
Great course
A fantastic course in excellent condition after the amount of rain, the greens where fast and true, the fairways had drained really well
A few long walks between some holes, but a great course layout which made for a great round of golf
Challenging course
It is physical. a lot of ups and downs and a push trolley helped taking the stress away so I can focus at playing the ball. 😆
No club house
Nice course definitely need buggies
No club house food and drinks only available in the hotel which is a long way from the golf car park and course.
