Course was in a tired condition.

4 temporary greens were in use which weren’t prepared at all and was just a flag stuck in a piece of fairway. Fairways look like they haven't been cut in a while and were very patchy.

Tee boxes were not proper Tee boxes and again we’re just markers stuck on a piece of overgrown fairway. At times they were very hard to spot.

The greens that were in play were in ok condition and rolled with a good pace. For the price there is better quality courses to play for that money

Overall, the course just look tired and look like it had not been well maintained in recent times

Do not play this course in winter

I recently played what was meant to be an 18 hole round at Messingham Lakes, although only 16 holes were available due to two being closed.

The 16 holes that were open were using temporary greens, but they were unplayable. It appeared that flags had simply been placed in the fairway, and the grass had not even been cut!

No discount was offered, it was £25 which is the price they charge in the middle of summer!

I understand holes may need to be closed or have temporary greens but they should be at least playable and a discount should be offered.

Save your money

Just book elsewhere this used to be a great course but unfortunately now is not in good condition. And you really feel they do not want golfers or members getting on the way of Lodge guests

Perfect weather
Walked

Fairways

Fairways were like playing off concrete with barely any grass on them, luckily i kept away from them. Greens were excellent obviously the hose pipe ban and dry weather is to blame for that other than that a very nice course

Messingham Lakes

Not played for a while so I'm bit of a duffer. Good course to start on, not to taxing. Really enjoyed the day, got held up by a 4 ball , poor eticate. Went for a snack after , a d that was lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly too. Will definitely go back

Course is terrible

Greens good but fairways full of weds and tee boxes like a bonb site. Holes on tee boxes and I fairway.

Very disappointed as has potential but needs some effort spent on ourselves. Cabins look good as we walked around but nothing to so really as clubhouse over priced but can go elsewhere but TBH we are looking for pace and golf is key for us si not an option unfortunately as in such a poor conu!

Poor condition

I used to be a member and the course was never immaculate but the condition currently is the worse I’ve ever seen it. There seems to be a lot of work going into the log cabins that they’ve maybe took their eye off the ball when it comes to the golf course. I do like the layout of the course but the condition massively lets it down. I only paid £21 but I certainly wouldn’t recommend this course at the moment.

Avoid

Greens ok but everything else very rough.Tee beds were awful certainly no maintenance on the tee beds ,Totally awful. Fairways rough and ready unsure what was there before the golf course but it looks like it's been built on reclaimed land.

Worst condition course played for along time

Tried this course again to see if had improved, bout had got worse. Weeds, rabbit holes, no grass, dead grass and no define rough. Apparently there is a rule in place member mentioned after round where you can pick and place in fairway dilute to poor condition.

Tees are horrendous, no grass, holes and weeds!

Greens good to be fair but second cut and bunkers terrible.

This is a health and safety hazard.

Without some serious TLC this course will be closed soon as if there is a wet autumn/ winter it will turn to mud.

Feel sorry for members, it’s not an expensive course but that’s all relative!

Shame tbh but I will look at other courses in the area. They be a little more expensive but for value for money this course can’t compete.

If staff weren’t so accommodating I would have asked for refund.

Clubhouse is great but way over priced.

Spoke to very disappointed lodge guests who had come for golf breaks as well as disillusioned members.

Very very disappointing venue for golf and for a break if want to play golf go elsewhere.

Avoid at the moment the course condition is terrible

This course has gone downhill in the last 12 months. Appreciate the weather is not helping but compared to other courses in the local area the fairways and tee boxes are a disgrace, full of rabbit holes, weeds, no grass or seeding grass shoots the are 5 inches high. Impossible to tell fairway from the rough.

This golf course should not be available on Golf Now as is not fit to play upon unless was £5 per round but is the. A health and safety hazard.

Greens have shrunk since I last played assuming to reduce maintenance but are in a reasonably good condition.

Clubhouse is very good but very expensive over £16 for breakfast!

Staff are great and friendly.

Same the golf course doesn’t match those standards.

Not a great destination for a golf break unfortunately as could be very good.

Just look at the pitches!

If you love your golf AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Where do I Start …. Tee boxes are Terrible , Fairways are Shocking !! I appreciate we have had very little rainfall but I have played other courses in the area and the fairway’s are not brilliant due to the dry weather but nowhere near as bad as these . 11 and 12 are an accident waiting to happen . Rabbit holes and weeds are a major problem . The aprons and around the greens are awful . Bunkers are just dust . Greens are ok . Didn’t see any green staff apart from on the way out cutting the grass round the lodges We played behind a 5 ball sharing clubs !!!! Yes you read it right a 5 ball !!! 2 of the group sharing clubs and not in golf clothing . On the website they describe the course as “6233 Yards of Lush Faiways and Challenging Features” they definitely got the last bit right . Also described as

“Messingham Lakes offers a stunning 18-hole course in 140 acres of scenic North Lincolnshire countryside. Golfers can expect well-groomed fairways and an engaging layout with water hazards and bunkers to test their skills” it’s false advertising if I’m being honest . Only positive I could take from the day is the balcony overlooking 18 . I wouldn’t waste your time or money here in my opinion.

Messingham

Course was in better condition than last time I went there, tee boxes could benefit from a good overall as they had a lot of divots and holes which made it difficult to find a decent spot to tee from as well as get a even stance ,but otherwise enjoyed my round and would definitely go again

Desperately needs TLC

Played today for the 1st time and I will not be returning!! Tee boxes are shocking , hole 11 is an accident waiting to happen . Rabbit holes all over the fairways . Weeds on a majority of Fairways . A severe lack of care !! The only positive I could give is the greens . Not brilliant but ok . If also like to add the pace of play was very slow over 4 hrs 20 mins for a 3 ball . Will definitely not be returning
