Great course
Played the Jubilee course and it was in great condition, the greens were very firm and fast despite the recent weather, there were some areas on the course that had the odd drainage issue however the course was largely in near perfect golfing condition.
The layout was a bit unclear at times with no holes having number, only names but managed to navigate round fine.
Take lots of balls
Great course in a great part of the world. Lovely views. The rough however lets it down, if you’re not on the fairway don’t even bother looking for your ball, it’s gone, the rough has it now. Greenskeeper, sort it out. Takes the shine of what is a stunning course to play.
Picturesque course so great holes, very long par 4s
Some really nice holes, alot of long par 4s I'm a pretty long gutter and I was left with a lot off 200 yard dhits on my 2nd, some of the fairways and tee boxes are abit scruffy, however greens are lush and fast. If you're looking for long rolling views you won't find anywhere better than here if you're looking for you best score look elsewhere 😂
With everybody else closed
Superb round of golf at this time off year, with most other courses in the area closed. The course conditions were impeccable and we all thoroughly enjoyed this picturesque course.
Great views and tricky greens
Great coastal views, course in good condition with tricky and fast greens particularly on the hillside holes.
Disappointed
On arrival at the course my first impression was “breathtaking “ from there it went downhill.
Trying to check-in the pro shop was initially closed, and the response when asking at the bar was “keep waiting “.
Trying to find the first tee wasn’t easy, trying to find the third tee was ridiculous. I was initially let through by three kind friendly members, but then felt the impatience of two single ball golfer’s which made me hurry my game. After letting them both through I was then being harassed by a two-ball in a buggy.
The course could do with better navigation, it could be a lovely escape, but didn’t work for me
Enjoyable Challenge
Nice course with lovely views . Well worth a visit. Would play again
Well worth a visit
A challenging golf course for all golfers, set in the lovely surroundings of North Yorkshire, with some amazing views.
Great course
Playing in 40mph winds is never a good idea, but the course was in really good condition considering how much rain has come down over the last few weeks. Club pro was very informative and helpful and I look forward to my next visit
Day out on the links
The course in good condition for this time off year the greens are fantastic the view from the club house is stunning the hills and sea u can see all 27 holes. I will be visiting this links course again the staff where very friendly and helpful.
Interesting and challenging course BUT catering non existent
Course has 27 holes so you play two sets of 9. Fair but challenging holes with some very difficult greens especially if flag position uses the slopes.
Wonderful coastal views.
Major drawback was that having driven an hour to reach the course the clubhouse catering offer was very poor. Don’t arrive hungry.
Nice course, let down by very poor signage
The first hole, with absolutely no protection from the driving range running parallel, was an interesting sight... And after the second we were utterly lost. Despite the staff’s promise of ‘loads of signage’ there is absolutely no direction between holes 2 and 3. Considering the third hole was at least a 400 yard walk down a track and under a railway bridge, this was quite simply ridiculous.
The score card had no map, again a stupid and lazy decision by the club, and we ended up letting a group play through just so we had someone to follow!
The course itself is nice enough, although rarely does one feel that they’re on the coast - besides one hole showcasing the view of the headland, there is little to no attempt to incorporate the great scenery. Compared to somewhere nice further north such as Warkworth, this course suffers from a distinct lack of imagination and creative setting.
The staff in the clubhouse were pleasant, although it was difficult to attract their attention even in a virtually empty bar, and after speaking to other golfers, this club’s pricing scale - essentially gouging a single player and rewarding a four ball - illustrates a clear contempt for non-members.
No doubt we’ll be back; once you know your way around, the course itself is well kept and all three of us shot 30+ points, but I hope that the club use this unfortunate second lockdown to improve the signage and general attention to detail. Could be much better than it is.
Last before lockdown
Always a fantastic round of golf! Green keepers must have worked extra hard to even make the course playable as very wet/boggy in some areas but greens were brilliant and ran superbly love Hunley and can’t wait to get out and play again
Hunley Hall
The course was in very good condition considering the amount of wet weather we have had lately
Challenging!
Had a good day as 4 ball group enjoying the golf, food and views.
Played Imperial course, there a 3 courses. Although things look open don’t be drawn into ‘going for it’ there are many hazards and difficulties. Getting a reasonable score takes care and planning.
One star less for conditions only because we played shortly after some heavy rain.
