Varied and interesting
Lots going with some tricky greens and fairways.
Great views. Value for monet
Hunley Hall
Pro shop staff very friendly. Course in decent condition mainly but suffering due to lack of rain but what course isn’t this year, tee boxes let it down on the first nine holes but back nine much better condition. Very good value for the £90 for a fourball that we paid, buggies are a must at this course due to the terrain, overall thoroughly enjoyed the day and we will certainly be back
The best views of any golf course I have played
It was a blustery day, as you would expect on the North East coast. The course was in excellent condition, and the rough was fairer than earlier in the season. A two-club wind can take its toll, one minute you feel like a pro after reaching a par 5 in two. Only to take 5 shots and two puts on the next part 4 in the opposite direction. Go and play Hunley, you wont regret and paid £20 ppr.
Brothers
Great course,bit hilly,greens very testing
Enjoyed the day
Definitely going to play again
What happened?!!!
We’ve played Hunley countless times during winter, spring, autumn and summer seasons. We’ve recommended it to fellow keen golfers and invited friends for a round. It’s a lovely course— good lay out, well-stocked pro shop, good car park, scenic, peaceful and quiet environment, well manicured fairways, fast greens, well-tended tee boxes and tee blocks. It was really a well-maintained courseThat’s all in the past. To put it mildly we were shocked by the state of the whole golf course. It looked very unloved and neglected from tee to greens. Some bunkers are marked GÜR, overgrown grass on the edges. What happened?!!
I hope the owner will bring the course back in its former glory.
Great challenge in windy and dry conditions
As many times in the past, the course is in great condition during the summer month. It didn’t disappoint neither this year. However, with winds of 20-25miles it made it very tricky, some long grass, there are wholes where you feel like a pro because of the hard fairways and strong winds. One of my favourite golf courses in the north east, certainly some of the best views and really great wholes. As long as it is not rainy I recommend to play Hunley Hall for sure.
Hidden Gem
Great course, a real hidden gem.
Had never heard of it until it came up on a search on Golf Now.
None of the other 8 playing companions knew of its existence either.
Staff in pro shop was great, gave us direction on where to head off because of the nature of the 27 holes that are interchangeable to make up 3 different 18 hole courses.
Some challenging holes but not so challenging that every wayward shot was severely penalised.
Look out for the resident swans on the 8th hole of the Imperial layout, we were also almost dive bombed by 3 Canada Geese on the same hole.
Would we return? Absolutely
Shame about the greens
Great layout. Stunning views just a shame about the greens.
Brilliant layout
We'd never played here before and didn't know what to expect. When booked in the guy in the pro shop couldn't have been more helpful, talked us through the course layout whilst outside and gave us a bag with tees, ball maker etc etc. The layout was excellent with bunkers in the just the right place to make to make it a challenge with risk and reward on most holes. The course condition was obviously dry and hard due to the drought and with flat fairways at a premium you did have think about where you were landing your drives etc. Some great holes and two holes are the same.
We'll definitely be back overall a cracking course that makes you think.
Tees and greens need more work they were a bit scruffy
Lovely layout Panasonic view s worth playing for that
Lovely course, great views and very hospitable employees
Really welcoming on arrival, with a free gift of Tees, pencil, divot remover etc.
Very friendly and helpful staff .
Then stunning views and great conditions
Not too busy so very good progress made.
We played the Jubilee course.
A minor issue was that there were no tee numbers ( but all had names)
Directiins
Got a little lost after the first two holes. Third hole not very well sign posted. Also score card needs guidance of the holes layout.
Great Course
Fantastic course in immaculate condition, with breathtaking views, would definitely recommend.
Great potential
First time we’ve played Hunley and we weren’t disappointed . Due to recent dry weather the course was parched but the views and layout more than made up for this. No food Mon through Wed was very disappointing and meant us going back into the village to get food !! We weren’t told there was a seniors comp ahead of us on the tee and they were painfully slow. Despite the negatives we will go back but not between Mon and Wed if when a comp on 😬
Good Course
Great views and a pretty good layout . Only negative were the greens were really dried out when we played it and it was a bit of a nightmare for putting .
New Year Round at Hunley
Nice round on a chilly morning. Polite and helpful staff set up a good round. Playing as a single I got let to play through three times which was nice and showed etiquette. Course was in great condition. A very well kept golf course.
