A good course for novice/ high handicappers
Nice location and friendly staff, greens are in good condition, considering the hot summer we’ve had. Slow/ medium pace with not much movement. A short course, quite narrow fairways, lots of internal out of bounds, so being accurate is more important than distance. Tees and greens are close together and quite a bit of crossing other fairways. I have played mostly late afternoon’s so quiet and with reduced fees makes it good value.
7 minute tee times. Started 25 minutes late and stuck behind a 4 ball of members who wouldn’t let us 2 ball play through. Over 4 hours for a tiny course.
Don’t be fooled by the pictures
The course is in a horrible condition. The only green spots you will see on the entire course are the greens and the Tee boxes. Don’t bother renting the clubs at this place. The fairways are completely dry and rock hard
Short and fun
Great little course which gives you a lot of risk reward short par 4s. Rough is tough but it should be on such a short course. Only negative was the greens were very slow as they hadn’t been cut
Painfully slow
Waiting to tee off on every hole as well as on the fairway was extremely frustrating and not an experience I would want to repeat. The greens were very slow due to length of the grass and the long grass in the rough made it difficult to find balls that just strayed from the fairway. The course seems to have gone downhill in the last couple of years which is a shame.
Too slow and greens need a bit of TLC
Course was overbooked and with no marshals on the course by the time we got to the 10th after 2 plus hours for the first 9, we gave up and played the front 9 again (thanks to the pro shop for facilitating). Greens had been left long so slow and fluffy, with lots of pitch marks. Other parts of the course showing wear and tear.
Shame as like the course layout.
Friendly local course
As a new golfer (less than a year), I find this course good. There is on 1 par 5 and 3 or 4 par 3's. It is reasonably flat with some wide fairways, and some 'annoying' bunkers ! There is no water.
The layout is a little confusing (crossing back and forward), but is well signposted.
Good size car park and Rebellion in the bar - with friendly staff.
Generally I enjoy playing there
Surprisingly good
Haven’t played Huntswood GC for 15 years, nice to see the course maturing.
Closed with no refund unlike anywhere else
Arrived for my tee time due to cold weather. All other local courses I called were open including Harleyford and Thorney park.
Unfortunately huntswood refused to refund me or let me play or time. Obviously they have different standards than other local courses although I would not suggest the quality of course warrants this approach.
Slow experience..
Played Monday morning at 9.55 - seemed to have timed it just after the senior roll-up… pace of play was painfully slow with no attention to letting groups through or groups trying to play faster. The layout is not conducive to fast play with several short holes early on and most inviting call-ups etc. In the end walked in after 14 holes when people weee starting to shout in frustration. If you like 5 hours for a round on a 5200 yard course, this is your place!
Course needs marshalling and some messages to players to play briskly and allow others through etc..
Enjoyable day
Course is quite short but overall was great value for money. Staff were very welcoming and friendly in pro shop and club house.
Would be great if the course had a few more features and lengthened.as it is in a nice setting.
Thanks
Potential but not value for money
Fairways were in poor condition but the greens looked very green so expected them to be good. However greens were cut too long and very slow. The course has potential to be very enjoyable but the conditions meant it just wasn’t worth the value at £30 per head.
Some interesting holes
Nice course in very good condition, all staff very friendly and helpful.members also friendly and chatty will definitely play their again
Short yardage but well maintained and friendly pay and play course.
Only one par 5 so not a long course but some challenging par 3 and 4s. Course is well maintained for a pay and play and it drained well despite torrential rain on the previous day. Good value for money too.
