Avoid at all costs

This course has been shooed into a tiny plot that would suit a 9 hole course. Most of the par 4s are driveable and under 300 yrds with just one par 5 - most of the par 4s would make nice long par 3s. The greens were dreadful like putting on the surface of the moon. Most of the bunkers were full of water and had little sand in. Play was slow due to the very low standard of players in the groups behind and in front of us. I dont think I'd play here again even if it were free.

Short but well layed out

The course is short but well layed out.

Course was busy which was ok as showed it was popular. Course was in good condition for a November day.

The down side was after the round of golf my playing partners were all hungry and thirsty and after standing at the bar for 5 minutes plus no one appeared to serve us so left unfed and got a hot drink from the vending machine in the entrance.

Nice course to practice on

Hurtmore is fairly tight so makes you think more carefully about where you hit the ball, greens in good condition and almost all Bunkers had good sand depth.

Confidence builder

Hurtmore is a confidence building course that is relatively easy. I am a big hitter so it is therefore a lot of holes are just drives and pitches. There are a few annoying out of bounds and the 3rd is one of the toughest par 4s around with the 18th having the potential to be a round killer. You will be in a bunker at least once on your round so make sure you can get out of them. The facilities are good for a golf course on the cheaper side and a social event could work well here. They have an amazing new simulator set up which I have yet to try as I prefer to play outdoors. The staff can sometimes seem grumpy but overall ok.

Slow day out

Course in good condition other than a few bunkers still had standing water in them from a storm more than a week earlier which seems unnecessary. Three of the greens also had oil on them from a leaked mower. Otherwise the course was good but the pace of play behind a society was dire. First nine holes took two-and-a-half hours.

Value for money

The day we played many courses locally were closed after storms but aside from water in the bunkers, the course was in great shape. The design has made the most of the space, so some of the fairways and greens are close together. Forgiving rough and well-paced greens.
