A hard course to review as its run by the members who are mostly very nice. However the layout is not good especially if its busy. You have to crossover a lot and share greens. Then you separate for a hole and then you all seem to meet back up on the next tee and share a green again. Sounds confusing and it is, To me it would work better 9 tees and greens and just go round twice,
In a nice setting and the weather can be nice all year. Also separated from the sea by a wall so wind was not a problem either. Enjoyed the experience but wont go back
Good mid-range course
Played here at the weekend. Managed to get an early tee at short notice which is always appreciated on the weekend.
Course layout is pretty good. Open and some wide fairways.
Was particularly windy on this day, which isn't surprising considering its next to the sea, but as the course is low down it was only a couple of holes you really noticed it.
Greens played pretty fast, but course in good condition.
Staff really friendly, only downside for me was no food on site.
Would return though for sure. For the price, can't complain and thought it was a decent course 👍
Excellent staff
This is the 4th time here.
Can be confusing with cross overs and playing holes twice.
However the staff are excellent and friendly.
Course greens were excellent.
Value for money is 2nd to none.
Allways enjoy playing here.
Hythe golf club.
Hi, this is the second round I’ve had on Hythe. I have enjoyed both times. 2nd time was a bit slower due to several 4 balls and just the nature of the layout. It does cause a few bottlenecks but not major. There are half a dozen shared greens which can make it slightly awkward depending on which nine you are on. As for the staff, admin, greens etc a warm welcome and a very pleasant experience.
Disappointing
The setting is fabulous but the golf course falls short.
It is not challenging as claimed on the club web site.
To provide 18 holes, this course has shared greens meaning that you are effectively playing the same hole from a slightly different tee.
The web site does not make this clear.
Due to the shared greens and close proximity of tees our round(two ball) was painfully slow waiting for others to play despite the fact the course was not busy.
Not a real test of golf and not value for money for the visitor.
Hythe Imperial Golf Course
A 9 hole golf course with the option to play 18, yes that may seem obvious but you need to bear in mind that doubling up on holes can be congested and hold up play.
Nevertheless it works well and the course provides a good test for both beginners and low handicappers.
RCDF Hythe Golf Course
An interesting 9 hole course which plays as an 18 rather well - do remember to pick up the free course hole map as you will be confused if you do not whilst playing 18 holes.
Very good winter condition
Very good condition for winter ! enjoyable with the 12 greens and 18 tee boxes … just have to get your bearings. Woman in clubhouse explained it very well was very helpful! Worth a trip !
In good condition considering it’s winter
Course in good condition although slow play, quite a few hacking their way around
Avoid at peak times!
Nice flat and straightforward course. Feel as though the course has been squashed together. Four holes aim towards one green! It could be made into a really good 9-hole course.
Good to get out
Played when it was a bit drizzly and breezy. Greens were really good condition. Not the fastest greens but a good pace with a good variety at each hole.
Course was generally in good condition, easy enough to navigate apart from finding 14th tee.
Definitely a links feel to it. The course itself is close to the beach with a road separating them. The road sits above the course so you can make juding wind tricky.
Will play again and at £24 for for 8 holes was good value for money.
welcoming course
Lovely course and very welcoming - wasnt always sure where to go next as some greens were shared but may just have been me!
