About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Quite challenging but course conditions could be better
Some challenging holes and good water features.
Enjoyed it but was disappointed with condition of some of the greens and parts of fairways. Not sure on the impact of COVID these days on bunkers but none had been raked.
Overall some interesting holes and a sub 4 hour round!!
Rain Out.
My partner & I were playing hole 10 & started to rain, then started raining harder. Drove into tunnel & waited till rain slowed. While there, we called pro shop & explained; we were told they would honor a rain check. Saw our receipt & told us we would have to go through GOLFNOW to get our rain check. Will call immediately afterwards.
As far as the course. It was in excellent condition & greens were immaculate.
No Marshal
No course management,
We complained about the pace of play, and found out there was no marshal. There were 5 groups on the number 10 tee box. :(
Pace of play is wheelchair
Played a round this morning at 930. Just finished. 5.5hr pace of play….Marshall was a bag, girl in the clubhouse was a bag. For the money, play elsewhere.
Great Times at Greatwoid G.C.!
Played Greatwood for the first time yesterday. Joined-up with a twosome. Despite the heavy rains in the area for the last several weeks the course was in good condition. Though "Cart path only" the back nine could have handled carts. Challenging layout. Definitely need a map of the course if this is your first time. Resodded areas of the course (mostly old bunkers) were dried out and need replacement. Overall, the fairways were in good shape. Greens were in very good condition-better than those I've played recently.
Condition getting better
Course condition has improved considerably in the last 6 weeks. But the staff, is still as friendly and upbeat as those who work at a mortuary.
Basketball
Overall, it was a good experience. The greens were very rough, so the ball bounced across the greens instead of smooth rolling.
The yard has a lot of bugs flying on people, so it's very uncomfortable when playing
The course layout was really good, the condition of the course was not great but playable.
