About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Improved Green Conditions
Living in the area I have played the course quite a bit. With that said I've always been disappointed in the green conditions, but I was pleasantly surprised with improvements made over the last few months on the putting surfaces. Over all the course was in decent condition and played relatively quick for a weekend. Driving range could use some still.
Just don’t go
Didn’t have carts for the tee time initially then carts died. Looked like an abandoned waste land on the back 9 with all the dead carts around. Probably upwards of 20 carts were dead on the course.

Nice course, layout is good. Some holes are challenging enough to make it memorable
Better Than the Office
Played with my lovely Bride of 45 years. I've played there on several occasions in the past but this year this was my 2nd time.
The course was immaculate today, greens are in great shape, putted fast and true. Fairways are in great shape. That almost made me to want to come back.
However, after it took 5 hours to complete our round don't think it is worth the hassle. waited on every hole. There is no Marshal, no one to keep up the pace.
On top of that, one of the carts in front of us had a handicap flag and the other riders thought it must have been for them too because they were driving everywhere, very near the greens and inside the ropes where the course management obviously were trying to keep the carts out. NO Respect!!!
Again, the course was in fantastic shape and only wish the other negatives were not such a distraction.
Things are picking up
Course has always been middle of the toad but things are definitely changing for the better. Greens and course are definitely improving.
