When I arrived the course looked in condition and I wasn’t let down at all.
Pro shop staff were very friendly even though he was busy with doing something and couldn’t be more helpful.
The greens and tee boxes were all in great condition compared to my last round at Willow Valley.
The course was in fantastic condition, the fairways were by far the best I’ve played off in years.
I couldn’t fault the course at all, really enjoyed my round and knocked in a few birdies which is always a bonus.
I will definitely be playing here again to try and better my score.
Good course
Good course, just slow play let us down with some less than capable golfers spending more time in the trees than on the fairways
Leeds GC- surprisingly quiet
The course is a little back and forth in places, with nevertheless some interesting holes, principally derived from elevation changes. The par 3 up a steep hill is a test, not least at the time of this visit the breeze had become pretty strong.
The course was not in bad condition at all. The greens don’t look too great- a few were were damaged but they ran pretty true- very little bobbling and not bad speed.
The course was quieter than expected- in hitting a few second attempts at a few shots solo golfing I never caught up the only group I could see ahead. Got round in 2h40 on a pleasant Yorkshire afternoon.
I expected significant traffic noise but this was only intrusive on the holes close to the boundary.
On the downside a few blind shots and a few grass cutting in the semi rough meant a little more hunting than I had anticipated.
Great value
After heavy rain the night before the course was obviously a bit wet in places, Tess were very good, and the greens were excellent.
Very picturesque course with some lovely flowers/ trees.
Very friendly welcome from members and staff in the shop.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to play in this area.
Very wet in places. The greens were poor.
The first few holes are very similar but the course gets more interesting as you go round. Difficult to rate it as this was the end of March 24. The course was wet and boggy in places. The greens were poor. The gentleman at the professional shop was very helpful. We were unable to get a drink at the 19th hole with trainers on.
Best course in Leeds in winter conditions
Course always in really good condition and has been throughout a rough winter. Few holes closed but still managed to play 18 - no temp greens. Staff and amenities all very good
Slow Play & Rude Members
Great course, enjoyable.
However, you won't get round in under 4.5 hours due to slow play. I asked the four ball in front to speed up and they told me to get off the course if I had a problem with slow play. They had just taken 23 minutes on a par three!!!
So rude too. Members "own" the place I guess.
Told the staff I had to walk off after 8 holes (already over 2 hours) and they just shrugged shoulders as if that was the norm.
Don't print "Avoid Slow Play" on your scorecards if you don't mean it!
Won't be playing there again, I don't have 5-6 hours available per round.
Wyke, Cleckheaton, and many more others to choose from.
This is why my son and his mates think Golf is boring and will be sticking to football etc. Can't blame them can you? You could watch/play two games of football in less time than a round of golf.....
So disappointed.
Good challenging course
A few interesting holes and challenging for someone a my level. Early morning prices value for money, not sure about prices later in the day.
Disappointing
Played this coarse on and off for 40 years -the greens today were very average I’m sorry to say .
Great set up
Lovely course. Good mixture of holes. First 4 you need to be pretty accurate off the tee. Then it opens up a bit. Some good par 3's. Very friendly in the pro shop and the bar.
Cared for
After the biblical downpour over the weekend had caused the course to be closed on Sunday (a good sign that the course is cared for), we played on the Monday morning. Apart from the bunkers being treated as GUR because of remaining puddles, the course played beautifully. First few holes are similar but then it gets more interesting.
