Much better nick than 2 years ago
A couple of years ago the course was not in a good state but I played in August last year and there weresigns of improvement, mainly to the fairways and greens. That improvement has paid dividends especailly the greens. Can't do much about the fairways and how they have crisped up in acouple of weeks from wet to hard. The tees need to be rotated a bit more and some of them need to be looked at to get them level or at least flat. On the whole out ofthe 4 courses I have played in the week after Golf was allowed to be played this was the best one.
great value and condition
we played on a sunday afternoon on a hot deal at £16 each. Course was in great condition and the course is a great design, you cannot ask for more at that price. Excellent.
Conditions not good
Very wet and muddy, fairways in bad shape. Lost a ball in the middle of the fairway on the second, but found one some other poor golfer lost-as did my playing partner! Had to carry as no trolleys allowed, understandable, but not easy with a bad back. As an additional note, bother the 2 balls in front and behind paired up as 4 balls after the second.
Fairways??
I have played Lingfield Park on several occasions and overall i find the layout of the course great. My experience this week was a forgettable one. Understandbly due to recent weather there are lots of areas where the mud was thick and water was standing on some areas. However, their is genuinely little if any difference between fairway and rough throughout the entirety of the course. From both standing on the tee box or on the supposed ‘fairway’ their was no distinction between the rough and fairway and generally no difference in lie. Good tee shots were not rewarded due to there being no actual fairway on the course. Greens were ok, could be better. Tee boxes on the front 9 were generally ‘better’ but not great. The course detoriates in playability the further into the 18 you get. Avoid until spring at the earliest!
Great course layout some lovely holes but don't play if it's been raining gets very waterlogged
Don’t Bother in Winter
In my opinion the course is currently unplayable.
Played this course on Saturday 18/12. It’s a great course in a beautiful location, the staff were nice and the holes were interesting and well designed.
I cannot explain to you how muddy it was. The fairways were like squelching through quick sand. It felt like a complete waste of time. I sacked off scoring my round after 5 holes and just spent the rest of the 18 practicing chipping and putting round the greens. I then spent an hour or so practicing putting on the putting green to get my money’s worth.
I would highly recommend this course in warmer weather but i wouldn’t touch this course again now until at least april/May. The drainage on the vast majority of the course is terrible so realistically you need to play in wellies and have no interest in what your score is.
WET
The course was as wet as it could be before it becomes classed as a lake! Greens impeccable considering the condition of the fairways.
Fun, challenging course
Course was a bit soggy in parts, to be expected from recent rain. Plenty of challenging holes, but good variety. Would love to play here in the summer.
Limited facilities due to COVID, with pro-shop closed. It was great to get a round in, even if I did lose a few balls in the water.
Two ball round
First time playing, good value for money with some challenging and good holes. Fairway and rough were very muddy in spots, but to be expected during winter. Greens were in great condition.
Could be so much better
Good layout and interesting variety of holes but course condition was poor, greens were uneven, could be a really good course with better maintenance.
Nice course!
This course has a mix of short par threes and a couple of long par fours and fives. The conditions aren’t ideal but we are in December!! The greens appear to be reasonably maintained and are much better than other courses for the time of year. Some players don’t like letting people through and also aren’t great at course etiquette and the facilities could be better but this is probably due to Covid.
I would recommend the course for an under £30 round of golf!
