Greens

Not in great shape.. apparently recovering from a grass disease. Otherwise fantastic course. Quite hilly.

Greens, not good at the moment.

Have played Louth may times over the years, at varying times of the year.

I was told by the club pro in the shop that the greens had been infected, and some were not the best. This was an understatement. Every green had blad patches which did affect the putting badly. The ball just seemed to bobble all over the place.

Hopefully they will recover. The rest of the course was fine. Good Tees and fairways.

I got a hot deal for £16 each for a 2 ball. If it had been full price mid week or more than £20, I would have asked for my money back.

But don't be put off, if the price is right its worth a round, and if the greens recover, Louth is an excellent course.

Surprisingly long

This was our 1st time playing here, when we arrived the pro at the shop told us their was an issue with the greens, but this was reflected in the price we'd paid, this was very honest, the greens wernt that bad just an issue with growth in some areas. The rest of the course was absolutely spot on, fairway and rough was excellent, the layout of course is also very good, no slow points at all in our round, even though course was quite busy in a steady way, will will definitely come back later in the summer, it's a decent challenge with some long holes, and nice elevation changes and undulating fairways. Would recommend to anyone, especially off the white tee's

Not the best of first impressions and needs some TLC

It's my first visit to this course and based on reviews I was looking forward to it..stories of " little gem" were ringing through my ears on the approach up the driveway

However, before I left the car park I was warned by members that it would be slow on the course due to match and the greens were poor. It was actually more of an apology than a warning...and they were right to, if I was a member I would be embarrassed

I will come to that....

The pro shop is well stocked but the reception by the assistant pro was " Luke warm" at best, he struggled to generate any kind of welcome, clearly was clearly bored and not interested...great start, no apologies for the condition on the course or the match

Range area

The outfield is good, well presented...the practice Matt's were appalling, worn and torn, rubber tee were broken and balls were poor. The balls were a real hodgepodge of makes and brands.. needs investment. I have used better council run ranges

Practice area

Practice green diseased and bobby, chipping area was un-mown and not presented well....very shabby looking

Clubhouse

Looked nice from what I saw.

Golf course

Technically very good, it's not a course you can just hit a driver as far as you can on. You need to really think about shots and positioning. Every hole is tree lined and at times very unforgiving so you need to be good off the tee. Nice course furniture, balls washers and water fountain etc. nice tee box positions

There were areas, around greens and mounds that needed cutting, I get that we are in the season of growth but balls shouldn't be 3/4 buried when you are 10ft from the left of a green

The greens are nothing short of appalling. Every green has fusarium, and badly. I have played for over 25 years and never seen disease like it....greens are pretty much unplayable. I used to work in the industry and I am a "better than average golfer" and putting is a strong part of my game, anything over 3ft was a gamble if it would putt straight....on one hole I hit 3 putts, and all three squirted off in different directions....my understanding is that there is a new course manager appointed...they will have their work cut out..clearly the basics, hollow tine, vertti cut and other aeration processes have not been completed as they should.

Speed of play wasnt great, unfortunately there was a match on, that I should have been told about by the proshop staff in advance, took nearly 3 hours for the back 9, the group of members lost a hole but had no intention of letting through, despite the match getting settled with 4 to play....

The course has such potential but even at £15 on a hot deal, it was very underwhelming and didn't offer value for money....

Condition wise, I have played better municipal golf courses

Very very disappointing

Greens in despair

A hidden gem of a golf course that I would highly recommend having played here before. Really disappointed with today’s visit, the greens are truly awful currently, and appear to be showing signs of disease. The condition of the greens was so bad that I feel this should have been made clear before booking as it was almost impossible to put on the surface. The pace of play was slow, and the course condition was so bad that we left after 9 holes rather than complete the 18 we had paid for. 3 hours for 9 holes, and greens that you cannot put on, made for a very poor, unacceptable, experience.

Nice course, Great value.

Lovely course very friendly staff and people. Holes do play relatively close to one another. Greens weren’t in good condition, but still early in April. Undulating and great views.

Would definitely go back, as great value.

Louth golf

Really impressed with condition of the course, some of the tee's were a little all over the place but overall very impressed with the course the next time I play there I will either hire a cart or hire a sherpa to carry me round as the course can be a little bit on the sloppy side but still very enjoyable would recommend this course
