Disappointing
Played the course on many occasions. Friendly staff. Fantastic course layout. However, the course like many others is showing signs of a hot summer. The fairways were in poor condition.
The approaches and surrounds of greens inc tees. In extremely poor condition. Resulting in bare and unplayable lies.
On the whole a dissapointing visit to a course that is normally well presented. Unfortunately requiring long term investment to rectify the situation.
Average at best
Place looks great on arrival and looks lovely on first tee but I found it felt like i played the same holes a few times over. There are some very interesting holes but the condition was wasn't good at all. Started the round at 0930ish and didn't see one green keeper all round. Fairways were bare in place, I know we had been in a drought but other courses ive played that were as sheltered have managed keep the fairways in good condition. Greens where okay condition but ran very inconsistent speed wise. Not sure ill be rushing back. Don't let this put you off though because from what I understand this place is normally pristine. Maybe I just played at a bad time. Luckily I got a cheap green fee due to my home club but don't think I'd have been to happy if I payed full price.
Lovely summer’s afternoon at Rasen
Had a typically brilliant time playing at Rasen. Always a tough but engaging challenge, really enjoyed ourselves. Fairways were understandably baked, but the greens were in fantastic nick and lightning fast and the round was tremendous.
Great Day Out
Fantastic afternoon - great course, friendly welcome. Superb value for money too. Will be back.
Review
I’m pretty new to golf and this was my first time trying a new course from my local practice course.
I was nervous going in, but straight away I felt at ease with the friendliness of the staff. No pretentiousness I was expecting being a newbie.
Course was great and taught me a lot. It’s easy to get comfortable playing flat wide fairways and this showed me that’s what I had been doing. The course has lots of undulations and slopes so a good learning curve. Fairways were fair condition due to time of year but greens were great.
As silly as it sounds an arrow on the tee box pointing the play direction would have helped 😂. A few holes I stood there for a few seconds unsure but that maybe me being a newb.
Facilities were great and nice and clean.
Looking forward to coming back very soon
Good winter setup
I have played here in summer and enjoyed it. Today in winter set up, there were 3 temporary greens and the majority of tees were mats. I was aware of this prior to booking, however it did not detract from the experience.
Joel in the proshop was pleasant and welcoming. The shop is well stocked. Staff in the bar were just as welcoming and friendly.
We played the winter “blue” tees. Although playing oar 68 the course was still challenging but fair,
All in all a good day out 👍
First course of 2025
Not a fan of winter golf but I got the itch to play and so did my mate.
We chose to the coast and head in land and we are happy to say we did.
Market Rasen has beautiful greens and views and will look even better in the summer.
Few holes under repair and refirb but the play wasnt affected. Appreciated the porter loos half way round also.
Will absolutely be back in the future. Maybe il find the 2 TP5s i lost 😮💨😅.
A real treat
A cut above from the usual courses on GN and one that I will happily recommend to our society for a visit!
Beautiful course
A course in beautiful surroundings in fantastic condition. All staff and members were friendly and polite, a thoroughly enjoyable evening of golf.
Busy
Course was very busy - despite being told it was quiet - so it that was quiet I really wouldn’t want to play it on a busy day.
We were alway waiting for the football in front, who were waiting for the football in front of them - so no opportunity to play through (we were only a two ball). Play was so slow we had a four ball and two ball queuing behind us
First time visitors
We arrived 5 minutes early to the tee box only to be met by someone from the club shop who spent 5 minutes telling us how fast we’d have to play so as not to annoy any of the members. He also seemed annoyed we had booked on a Sunday morning ‘prime time’, given that it was a tee time they had advertised and they apparently welcome visitors this got my back up straight away! Once playing though we really enjoyed the challenging course which is set in a lovely landscape. Despite our 3 ball group running well ahead of schedule we still had a visit from a member of staff on a buggy telling us how important it was to keep a good pace, in the end we finished the round two holes clear of the following group so it all seemed a bit pointless! Would recommend the course itself for anyone to experience it but it’s the first I’ve visited where I felt we weren’t really welcome.
Fun course
Great course to play, only 1 temp greens (17th) for this time of year/weather we've had was great. Fast green, loads of hazards and only a few places with ob so can be a challenging place to come.
Most tee boxes were temperary but can actually stick your tees into the artificial grass which is a bonus
Wet patches in some areas but completely expected for winter golf
Only thing I would say about the course is that it's very compact with some holes very close to one another and 1 shared green but as long as you've got a good shout for fore in you I think this is a great course
Would reccomend especially for this time of year
