The starter was incredibly friendly and the staff in general were nice. A few too many irons off tee for my taste with all the dog legs but would potentially play again in summer months. Tee boxes were in truely terrible condition and the greens weren’t much better. I certainly wouldn’t rush back there but cost was reasonable for a weekend.

Course very good, and given the weather this summer state of the course much better than other courses have fared. Let down by the very slow play indeed. Had to wait on every hole bar the first, and finished 18th with barely enough light to see the ball in flight. Bar shut.

Played here a lot before. Tee boxes in general were pretty poor but that's sort of understandable given the summer we've had. Fairways nice, greens nice.

The worst thing by far was the pace of play, at some tees there were 4 groups waiting to go off! 4 balls weren't letting you through even when they crashed their balls into the trees. Tee times are clearly too close together. Some people actually gave up and left. It took me 5 hours to get round.

We teed off about twenty minutes behind the previos group of 3 men, but caught them up by hole 3. They were very slow and explained they were waiting for the four in front of them. It turned out later that they were all buddies and I guess that was the reason they never offered for us to play through. We should have pushed the point as the round took 4 hours 40 minutes and we were up behind them the whole way.

Played it yesterday and found the course to be in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it in! I fully agree with the comments on recent reviews! The course was untidy, unkempt and severely lacking any/little maintenance. The t boxes were mainly dust, littered with broken tees, rabbit holes on a few and difficult to get a decent lye! I saw a green keeper mowing one t box which was farcical as all he was doing was flicking dust about! The greens themselves weren’t too bad although a couple had bald mud patches on them but the green surrounds were much like the t boxes, dusty and lacking grass. I know we have had a long dry spell but surely some tidying up, and manual watering could be done to preserve the course? It was as if they didn’t care. We met some members who asked us to complain as their thoughts (in line with mine) were going unanswered!

Requested chips to go with other food and was told you’ll have to wait half hour for the fat to warm up!

Was only £27 so I suppose you get what you pay for although I would expect better! Won’t be going back unless there is vast improvement

Great course, fourth time playing it. Has some incredibly long holes (18th is 599 yards). We had a golf cart and I'd recommend this. Full 18 hole for £22.50 is a bargain.

Lots of people only play the front 9 - which is a shame as the back 9 has some real variety in course design and requires some interesting shot shaping.

Currently suffering a little due to the dry weather on some fairways and one or two green, as most courses are, as its not watered. But will be getting much better now we have rain. Would highly recommend this course, well worth it.

I have played MoG many times and I have to say this was by far the worst conditions I have experienced. I understand the extremely dry weather but, and noting it is a hotel linked course, the conditions were dreadful. You only need to get 2 things right on a golf course…greens and tee boxes. Other courses are managing to do it. Both were awful. A distinct lack of water and general repair on the greens….probably watered (if at all) at the wrong time of day. Animal related holes. Tee boxes not looked after…uncut / unrepaired and littered with tees. The fairways were actually trimmed and rolled well. The rest….not so much. Avoid until it rains and lushes up...and the greenkeepers tidy it up.

Even though I’m not a member I think this club should seriously limit its pay and play tickets. At peak times the play is far too slow and with etiquette at an all time low the tee times should be spaced further apart. I waited up to 10 minutes to play one particular hole as the guys that were two, three balls in front of me were a joke. The course conditions for the heat that were having is ok although some of the greens could do with some serious attention. Tee boxes were also bad but as I mentioned, if tickets were limited the course wouldn’t suffer so much.

Good value public course with dime interesting holes. Fairways and greens well managed although quite a few patches on the greens under repair.

The course is in pretty good nick at the moment. It's not an easy course to play as it is all quite tight but the main problem for me has always been that there is not enough time between tee offs and golfers behind have never been particularly considerate. One of my pals was struggling with his golf yesterday and at one point a player behind hit the ball onto the green before we were done, he only did it once! Shouldn't have to put up with things like that.

Excellent value for money. £28 each for a 2 ball & £26 each in a 4 ball for Friday golf..! With so many cubs now charging extortionate prices it nice to have real value for money.

Despite the course being frozen solid we still had a laugh. Lost a couple of balls and still managed a decent score but the weather was beautiful which always helps. One little gripe is the temporary tees on some holes which could have been put back perhaps at the front of the boxes instead of 50 yards down the hole.

Only thing is I can never understand why people don’t repair ball marks on greens. Lazy players.

Other than that, a great day lovely location, friendly staff.

Enjoyed the course - quite challenging and although needs some rain was in pretty good condition all round.

Played a round after work mid week. Never played here before and I was extremely happy when you consider the pricing.

Course was in great condition and green surprisingly soft considering the spell of hot weather were were having at the time.

Pace of play was fine, didn't have to wait and felt no pressure from group behind. Found the front 9 more enjoyable and easier to score on, but the back 9 offered up more challenges .

Would definitely recommend and will be be going back for another round

Not a bad course, cheap morning tee times which is nice, but twilight is abit steep when considering the conditions, some greens were pretty knackered but overall was playable.
