Maylands Golf Club
Course was great for winter conditions, all greens open. Great staff too, very helpful.
Only issue is the 5 minute slots for tee of time create a backlog at the 1st tee, had to wait about 30mins after tee time to get started, which resulted in slow play and didn’t get the course finished as it got dark.
But other than that still great and would go back.
Good value for money
For only £20 was a nice course to play only complains - pace of play bit slow - winter tee boxes - very muddy
Nice course layout
The pace of play was extremely slow. We was in a two ball... and we play reasonably quickly but we had 2 fourballs infront of us. Unfortunately they did not show any golf etiquette and let us through.
Greens cut up a bit by all the deer roaming around.
Decent course but for the deers, they keep well out of the way so no issues.
Great course
Great course, with fantastic layout and lots of wildlife. Showery weather when we played.
Tee boxes and greens in very good condition, other than where the herds of deer had walked/damaged greens, but that cannot be helped.
fairways and rough good, again other than where mushy as trampled by deer, again cannot be helped.
An improvement would be to have 200/150 yard markers - fortunately we had a player with a distance measurer, and it got very heavily used.
In all an enjoyable round.
Lovely Course
Got an absolute steal off GolfNow.
Avoided the rain and no one else on the course.
Lovely lay out, well kept, they just have the odd green problem with crows.
George
Good pace Good layourt with Some lovely holes
Greens were in poor condition only gripe
One of my favourite local courses
Maylands is a course I normally enjoy playing so was pleased to see it was open after all the recent rain.
On this occasion it wasn't a good round due to being stuck behind a four ball from the first to last tee that were frustratingly slow and never offered to let me through.
In general the greens were very good but the course was in okay condition. The biggest problem is due to all the deer on the course quite a lot of fairways were very badly cut up from the herds of deer.
I will definitely be back but not until the fairways have had time to recover/
Worth a visit
Mature parkland course. With undulating fairways, some tight holes with O/B’s, doglegs and undulating greens with some super 'driving' holes. Fairways, bunkers & greens were quick non receptive greens. Practise putting green, large chipping area, driving nets & friendly staff. Sadly no ball washers at the Tees
Slow play
friendly staff on arrived , course was in good condition .. just the slow play took 5 hours !!
This course has great features
3 of us played on friday 28/6/19,we got round in 3hrs 15mins so no hold ups and course was in excellent condition
Poor greens
Was really looking forward to playing Maylands as my grandfather was a member there for many years. Bitterly disappointed. The greens were absolutely dreadful, worse than a pitch and putt, with many putts totally unplayable. The bunkers were just as bad - sand like concrete and why don’t people rake?!? The course didn’t feel cared for which is a real shame as it could and should be a beautiful course to play.
