Easter Sunday with Josh

Waited ages for a member of staff from kitchen to come to reception, l had to walk through to get someone! No greeting or advise given as no pro around at all, greens poor & fairways so over £50 spent with no value except being with my son.Paul

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some issues during your recent visit to our course. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay in a member of staff coming from the kitchen to reception, and we will be sure to investigate this matter further to ensure that it does not happen again in the future.

Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented wet weather in March we have experienced some delays to our maintenance schedule which coincided with the Easter holidays. This is very bad timing for our visitors and we can only apologise.

We hope that you will give us another chance to provide you with a better experience in the future.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Sincerely,

Merlin Golf Club

Enjoyable round

First time played this course in over 20 years (back when it was only 9 holes). Playing with my son we both enjoyed the course and found the greens to be both challenging and in great condition for the time of year. Layout is good and not too hilly, unlike a few Cornish courses we’ve played recently. Nice to see some water hazards which again seem in somewhat short supply at other local courses. It needs time to mature, yes, but still gives a lot of enjoyment.

Would have asked for a refund

Played on Aug Bank Hol Monday with early tee time.

The layout of the course at times is confusing, fairways in good condition, but the tee boxes were the WORST I have ever encountered, even park pitch and putt were in better condition. It was impossible to Putt on the Greens as they had been HEAVILY dressed.

All in all it was very poor value for money, with the only redeeming features being the fairways and the views, I was seriously tempted to ask for a refund.

Good holiday golf

Not too difficult off the yellow tees, but the rough is quite thick so it's quite hard to get any distance if the ball is sat down. Nice views, good for a holiday round at a fair price.

Merlin

The course is clearly new and hasn’t had time to settle but unfortunately I felt it wasn’t very well maintained. The fairways weren’t cut and defined and the greens inconsistent.

There are a couple of interesting holes but generally straightforward and providing you hit straight very low scoring.

Great course

This was a great course very well looked after. My missus and I played a round on Friday afternoon and it was very quiet. The course was immaculate and quite challenging, will definitely play here on our return
