Reviews
Don’t pay - go somewhere else
We had a free round - from a charity raffle - and thank goodness. This course has so much sand on the fairways - and so much rough ground everywhere. Huge bald patches everywhere. They are charging £70 for visitors - not because the course is exceptional - rather it is being overplayed by the thousands of members and it is not recovering !! So if you’re thinking of making the trip - do not !
Pick and place in August
The cost of this course has dramatically increased. It is in no way worth anything over £35. Luckily I was playing in a charity day - so no choice - but the fairways are so bald and bad that it was pick and place !! The greens were great - but I know this course has been overplayed in the winter leading to massive patches of no grass along every fairway.
A must visit Golf venue for Spring, Summer & Autumn golf
Played Nizels yesterday afternoon as about ball. The course suffers a little through the winter with drainage but is a fabulous place to play most of the year. We try to visit several times a year and always have a great day out. Very friendly staff , a nice clubhouse with drinks on the terrace overlooking the 18th green and most importantly a beautiful golf course. The views on course are spectacular and it is a really interesting 18 holes to play with so
Many memorable holes. Lots of water hazards too. Course was in excellent condition yesterday and a real treat to play. You even get a cabin serving drinks and snacks near the 10th tee. Practice facilities are ok but limited. Highly recommended to get a game here, you won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic course
I dont normally write reviews but this course is fantastic.
Not cheap but £40 on a Sunday is a decent price.
I hadn't been nizels for 9 years but remember it being good.
It was fantastic.
Highly recommend
Great golf course, good price.
Played with a freind at 17:52 last night and managed to get 18 holes in easily, we were in by 21:20. Course was great, clubhouse before was great, food and drinks were great, bar staff were great, overall, I'd say, it was great 🙂
Great experience. A tough track
First time hear as the published green fee is £90 but found a great deal on Golf Now. The course was in really good condition considering the ridiculous amount of rain we've had. Fairways were a little long but you cannot complain, they just can't cut them too often. Great greens; soft but very, very good considering.
The course layout is a really good mix of moderate holes and some absolutely belters. There's some really tough holes (I parred) 10 is especially tough. There's well placed water hazards.
Warm up facilities are good. Nice putting green. Staff very friendly.
Will definitely go back (if there' another deal off the £90!)
Scored 80 (Hncp 8)
Cleverly constructed
Nizels is well worth a visit.
We played an early evening round and therefore expected some on course traffic. Despite following a couple of groups we were round in just over 3 hours.
Some cleverly constructed holes, that with hindsight we would have approached differently next time. For example hole 10, position is more important than distance.
Bar was reasonably priced, although service was slow.
Overall well worth a visit.
winter golf is boggy
greens fantastic considering. course very very very wet but it had rained for a month! clubhouse excellent.
Twilight round at Peak Prices
Disappointing experience
- waterlogged course
- teed off late, so should have got twilight price
- slow front 9
-had to play final two holes in darkness to finish due to slow play earlier
Surprisingly bad, overpriced
The course shouldn’t have been open such were the conditions. Mud everywhere. Losing balls in the middle of the fairway. Slipping over. Shame as it could be a nice course with a bit of TLC. Massively overpriced for even in good conditions.
A building site
This course has some potential, but it was totally unfit to play in its current condition. There were temporary greens, whole fairways under repair, heavy machinery all over the course and workmen everywhere. This course needs to be closed until they have sorted this out
Golf on a building site
Such a shame this course would be great value and in really good condition if it was not for drainage ditches being dug all over the course one hole shut off,at least 4 temporary greens turning par 5 into par 3 par 4 into par 3
and not a mention of it when we checked in at the pro shop! Other than that the course is rather splendid with lots of water in front of greens. The holes not affected by the work were in great condition fairways some of the best i have played on greens spiked and sanded but still good..Overall i will go back after the work is finished but will phone pro shop before booking to find out course condition.
Not worth the visit
After playing many courses on tee off times this is the first time I’ve felt the need to write a review if only to stop other golfers making the same mistake I did.
On arrival the reception staff barely spoke and gave us no information of the direction of the first tee or even offer a score card. After finding the first tee it looked nice but gradually as we went round got worse, greens were Extremely slow, tees were ok layout was not at all interesting and bunkers had compacted sand and not great for playing out of. Overall a poor day out and very expensive for what it is, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere
