Nice course, awful staff
Lovely course, awful staff. Had probably the worse experience of my golfing life at this place due to the snobby, stuck up staff. Had them talking down to me like I was some sort of school kid and for this I and my friends will NEVER be near this place again. I’ll also be telling everyone I know about the horrible people at this place and to avoid and that’s a shame because it’s really a lovely course but one to be avoided due to the stuck up staff...
Lovely layout
1st time playing here and we loved it, its quite short but the layout make it tricky mix of water and fairway bunkers and dog legs mean accurate tee shots are required, only down side was that the bunkers hadn't been raked ( though we did tee off 1st thing) very enjoyable will be playing here again
Excellent pace, managed to get around sub 3 hrs with good etiquette from all other golfers. Fairly forgiving course layout but still enjoyable with a few strategic holes to make you think. Fairways firm but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year, some of the better condition ones I’ve played on recently to be fair. Tee boxes and greens still soft and Playing true.
Really nice for a short course
Played two rounds here now, the second time to bring some friends. Will be back again.
Pleasant course
Oakland is a short course but quite tight so you need to be accurate. I went into several bunkers and they were in good condition, so OK to get out of. There were quite a few divets at pitching distance from the greens -disappointed that these aren’t being repaired. The greens were in a good condition. It’s a level course and 3 of us got round quite easily in three and a half hours - having played the course before I know that does depend on the speed of play in front of you.
Testing & Fabulous looking course
Me and my mate were looking for a round after COVID lockdown and came across this little Coures and was not disappointed.
Yes the Coures was short but not easy, have to be straight of the tee. Would definitely play the Coures again, greens were holding the ball well even with how hot it was. Some lovely looking holes and both of us came of the course and said we would play it again.
If I was to be honest, the only criticism I have is maybe there should be layouts of the holes on the tee boxes as there are a few dog legs and a couple of times we could not work out the hole location or line in, but now we have played it we know it.
Shame we could not get to use the clubhouse as still closed due to COVID but overall great Coures and everyone that worked there was very kind and help full.
Looking forward to going back.
Excellent Time
In these troubled times it was a fantastic way to enjoy some exercise playing Golf, the Course was in excellent condition with fairly fast greens. this is the 4th Time i have played here and this without doubt was the best condition I've ever seen it.
With the problem of Covid 19 everything was in place to play a 2 ball round, easy to sign in, a table with all the relevant information about what and how to play. Tee times every 10 minutes.
Enough space between everyone including the car Park.
Well done Oakland park it was fantastic.
Oh and i had a good round.
Played there just after lock down was relaxed
Greens to hard ball would just run needs watering.short course which is not a problem as it’s pretty tricky.
But fairways was rock hard too. Average course bit pricey for £30
Great experience post covid lockdown
The course was in very good condition other than bunkers but that is a very small detail. Greens were lovely and was a great experience. Can’t comment on amenities as non were open but they looked ok hence the 2 rating.
This course has character.
Amateur friendly and highly recommended for children, ladies and senior citizens. The course has 8 Par 3 holes and 2 Par 5s. Thoroughly enjoyed playing on the course even though the fairways were wet due to recent rain.
Oakland Park Golf Club
Whilst considered by many to be a short course this is made up and more by the degree of challenge, variety of holes, requirements for accuracy, and generally very good course conditions.
With a warm welcome both in the Proshop and bar area a small but disappointing let down were the quality of the bunkers (relatively under prepared) and after play blowers, however neither of these factors diminished the quality of the course , pleasant and charming views and general enjoyment of the round.
Tidy little course
Well kept course, nice greens and peaceful round of golf. It’s a short course, but tight and challenging in places with some fun holes. Pace of play can be slow, clientele is mostly retirees. If you’re behind a comp, you’re screwed.
The geezer that runs the bar is full of life and makes you want to play there more, always asks how your round was and makes sure you’re happy. Same can’t be said for the guy in the pro shop, the most miserable man on earth if you aren’t a member. Seems to find enjoyment out of stitching you up and resents the fact you’re playing on his course.
Tight little course with plenty of challenges
Have played this course many times and was surprised at the general state of the course. It all looked a bit shabby. Tees were worn as were fairways. Greens were pretty good but have been better. Bunkers are a complete lottery. A shame really as it is usually a pretty little course.
In the clubhouse we were charged £4 for a juice and lemonade [I don't usually get charged that in London] and it was definitely not service with a smile.
