Tidy little course
Well kept course, nice greens and peaceful round of golf. It’s a short course, but tight and challenging in places with some fun holes. Pace of play can be slow, clientele is mostly retirees. If you’re behind a comp, you’re screwed.
The geezer that runs the bar is full of life and makes you want to play there more, always asks how your round was and makes sure you’re happy. Same can’t be said for the guy in the pro shop, the most miserable man on earth if you aren’t a member. Seems to find enjoyment out of stitching you up and resents the fact you’re playing on his course.
Tight little course with plenty of challenges
Have played this course many times and was surprised at the general state of the course. It all looked a bit shabby. Tees were worn as were fairways. Greens were pretty good but have been better. Bunkers are a complete lottery. A shame really as it is usually a pretty little course.
In the clubhouse we were charged £4 for a juice and lemonade [I don't usually get charged that in London] and it was definitely not service with a smile.
Winter Mats
considering the time of year the course was fairly good, although the Winter mats were a little to be desired as they were quite poor in condition. However this is still a good place for a round of golf and the price i paid was excellent.
Arguably too many Par 3’s but a solid test
Only short but narrow and a real test of the short game. Played with a low handicapper who really enjoyed it.
Great greens
Played this course Tuesday 5.30 pm and went round in just over two and a half hours.Although it’s a short course it’s quite challenging and the walk is easy
The greens were fantastic considering the dry weather we’ve had
For me as a long hitter it’s nice to drive off using a 4,5,6,7 or 8 iron rather than just banging out a driver and the short game gets plenty of practice!
Played it a few times with golfers who are members of other clubs in the area and all enjoyed and would recommend
Great afternoon
We got a hot deal to play at 3pm and the weather was perfect. Lovely course and enjoyed the water holes. The 3 of us had a quick round as course not busy and we wiill be back. Just a shame not many par 5.
Then a nice drink in the Clubhouse to finish our game.
1st time wont be the last
with the weather we have had lately was expecting a boggy afternoon was more then very surprised drainage is excellent and the course itself very well looked after, nice little gem of a course will be returning as often as possible staff great one of tee off times best value for money in my eyes.
Greens and bunkers appalling
The greens had been hollowtised in last week. Bumpy, so slow, bunkers looked like they had never been raked. Following a roll up and a society so pace slow. If you paid the full £40 green fee you would think you had been mugged. Played the Oxfordshire the day before for £26 no comparison.
The course was in perfect condition friendly staff made us feel welcome
Quality course friendly club
A well kept course with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Short course, with lots of par 3's, but still challenging. Greens kept very nicely.
Pleasant round at Oakland
Although Oakland is a relatively short course it offers a good challenge because it is also tight so wayward shots are penalised. Although the course was quite busy, our three ball got round in three and a half hours. Friendly staff in the bar.
Beautiful course
We loved playing this course. Although being a shorter course (7 par 3s) it tested your short game everywhere you looked it was well maintained and picturesque the staff at both pro shop and bar were very friendly and as we played early afternoon it was fairly quiet
Very nice short course.
The course was great but unfortunately we went off behind a seniors match. The pace of play was way slower than any acceptable level which did ruin the day quite a bit. The kitchen was also closed until 1000. The course itself was great, very short with 7 x par 3's. The par 4/5's were all made a bit trickier by lots of dog legs and tight fairways. The greens were in fantastic condition and lightning fast. If we didn't get stuck behind the seniors match it would be 5 x stars all round.
