Good
Was a good course but was hesitant to hit the ball at times with people, not playing golf, where out walking at random spots around the course.
Nicely laid out course with excellent fairways and challenging greens. An enjoyable experience.
Nice day out
Played this course on a hot deal! Paid £12 including booking fees so it was a bargain to start with! Four older golfers tee’d off in front of me and my mate, with a lot of reluctance to let us play through. Must say the course considering it was the start of February was good! The green were in top condition! The staff come across stuck up and rude but once you’re playing you don’t care! Only odd thing was crossing the road to play holes 11-17 but once you’re there it’s no problem! I would 100% play this course again!
Brilliant will go again
Great course lovely condition. Greens very fast, hard pin positions. Tight fairways lots of doglegs left and right. Little to no water hazards. Challenging course but will definitely go again!
One Big Bog
Every hole was virtually under water - the course should have been closed. There seemed to be no effort taken in tackling the wetness i.e. bark chippings etc put round very wet parts. Leaves everywhere - again no effort seen in clearing them up + some bunkers dug up not playable but not cordened off.
Might be ok in the summer but if you fancy a game any other time of year -AVOID. Played quite well considering but wont be returning.
Well worth it
Nice course in great condition, greens fast and small, pro very helpful advising we go off back 9 so we had an almost clear run, friendly , will be going back for sure
Worth a look
Course in good condition , small and fast greens, would recommend a game there for sure , staff friendly, pro shop advised us to go off back 9 which meant we had an undisturbed game. Will be going back to see if I can improve my score
Great course
First time playing what turned out to be a surprisingly delightful course! No formal tee- times despite booking but not a big issue, course was quite busy for mid-week and stuck behind 2 x 4 balls that ensured a pretty slow round over 4 hours. Course was challenging without being massively difficult and errant shots normally lost a stroke rather than being hugely punitive. Great dog legs and good par 3s - would highly recommend a visit. Staff very friendly and although only sampled sandwich before tee off, food experience best described as adequate.
Great challenge for all handicaps
Picturesque location!
SATNAV will take you to Sedgley road. Aim for the Barley Mow public house and your there!
Friendly welcome and very friendly members.
Course and greens were in a great condition some dry patches on some of the fairways but a minor point.
Didn’t appear to be a practice area but decent practice green.
Great bar and friendly bar staff.
Overall a very nice course and one I would recommend and will play again.
First Visit
Course is interesting and challenging. Greens were good with lots of slopes. Really enjoyed my first visit to Penn GC. only negative was front 9 got stuck behind 2 senior 4 balls that were very slow and didn't call us through. All in all very good and we will be back for a open for sure.
Great course in Wolverhampton.
Played here for the first time, was really impressed with this heathland course. Plenty of challenging holes, lots of hidden hazards!! Great value for money and friendly people. No hold ups, was let through a few times. Will try and play again soon.
2nd time
my home course has signed a reciprocal golf arrangement with Penn G C, so on a quiet warm (ok very hot) Sunday afternoon, i went for a second round, course was in good nick if a little dry in places. Being very quiet I managed to get round in under 3 hours, it is a fairly easy walk on quite a small overall sized piece of land. The only quirk is that being built on "common land", you do get some quite random people walking over the course.
The Greens were playing fast
Penn was in decent condition but some areas are still wet. The greens were quick and hard so it was better to play it short rather than long. Overall we had a good day made by the sunshine ☀
Great day
The course was in superb condition would definitely recommend it. The staff were really friendly too.
OK TBH it was a winter round
Played here a few times, it is relatively local to home, but I never feel at ease here, there are some nice holes, but it always, and I mean always seems to play very wet. This was a bargain Xmas round off golfnow, so cant really complain too much, but in all honesty the course should have been closed. the temp green are a total lottery, some not even near to the regular ones.
I will come back, but in a hurry, and certainly not in the winter!
Good
Good course every hole is different me personally can't stop playing it especially at a great price highly recommended
