Pontefract & District Golf Club

Not happy as we paid to play and neither golf now or pontefract golf club made us aware course was closed and I looked on there website before hand plus I'm still waiting for my refund 🤬

Very well maintained for time of year, joined round with a member, friendly and easy walking course. Great pro shop and bar.

Would join, but can't get my head around having no tee time bookings

We were supposed to play today after reserving a tee time for 9.40 am, on arrival we went and signed in to be told is was winter greens which was okay, we went to the first tee where a dozen seniors were waiting to tee off, it was 9.37 so we told them that we had booked a 9.40 tee time to which they responded with tough luck because we are members and we play when we like.

We went back to the professional shop who backed up what the members had told us and that unfortunately they don’t have a booking tee time system where members are concerned, I said that we had booked through golf now with a certain tee time, the golf club employee said sorry you will have to contact golf now for a refund.

His parting words were, don’t let this put you off playing here again.

Your booked tee time means nothing at this club, avoid at all costs.

Great course, guy in the pro shop was very friendly, gave us the code for the locker rooms, and a lay out of each 9.

Course was in great condition, greens a bit slower than at Pike Hills, took a few holes to get used too

Staff very friendly,---course plays very well ,greens in good condition.

It is the first time I have played here & I will be back.

some good challenging holes, all fairways & greens very well kept.

19th hole was very welcoming & staff very polite.

Booked on golf now for a 2 ball this morning, Friday 1st March at 9:30am

When we arrived only 9 holes out of 18 were open, we were disappointed as we had travelled to this course because this was not stated when we booked.

This is not what we paid for, I understand that weather can’t be helped but even the man at the golf club said £25 each was extreme considering they were closed

A very nice scenic woodland course with some testing holes and fairways. Greens in very good condition and not as fast as they look which got us off to a shakey start! Greens ran true and fair, plenty trouble off fairways so driver not always the best approach particularly with the shorter par 4's. Nice Madri pint in clubhouse but remember to remove your cap at the bar. Worth a visit

Had a really positive experience playing here last week. There greens were in excellent condition with good pace even though it was late September.

Only slight issue and I suppose it depends on luck really is that there are no “tee times” bookable so when you arrive you just join the queue on the first tee.

Really enjoyed this course. Only negative would be the standard of the greens but would definitely play here again.

Never played this course before. Paid £30 each for the round which, compared to others on offer that day (priced between £18 - £22) that we HAVE played it was just not worth £30 so we were left disappointed.

Unfortunately on the day the weather was horrendous. Sleet and snow. However, we decided to play on as we had pre- paid and travelled 30 odd miles. As we were waiting to tee off on the first, Malcolm the secretary walked down to us and offered us a free round each at some time in the future when the weather was better. He said for us to play on if we wished but he would like us to experience the course in better conditions. We managed to get 8 holes in anyway but enough was enough by then. Difficult to judge the amenities off course due to Covid restrictions but felt more welcome at this course than any other I have experienced in recent times. We’ll be back for our free round soon and also more times in future. Lovely course by the way. Thank you Pontefract.
