Great again
Playedthevourse again.. and still loved it. After the first few holes the pace slowed/stopped. Our 2 ball had caught up with 2 groups in front. The2 ball in front (a member and X member) asked us to join. Really enjoyed the last 13 holes with them, chatting about the course, membership and stuff.
They were playing off of the Whites so we did, and it didn't go too bad.
Another great round at a lovely course.
Great course but waiting 5/10 minutes on every tee box. 8minute gaps between tee times not long enough
Excellent value for money
Great course, challenges you at every hole. Lots of dog legs, water to avoid, bunkers to take into account. Last 5 holes are a killer on the legs and when your energy is down - long par 4s and 5s to really test your card.
Never really considered playing here given its only 20 mins from me, but will definitely be back. Not too busy when I played, was a sole golfer, but never got held up nor pushed from the tee behind.
Will be back
Great track
Played the course yesterday, I loved it. Great holes, well kept and a nice layout. Some holes up hill but there's nice down hills after it. Will definitely be back!
4 ball chose not to look at us and ignore us before letting us play through so did get slow at the back end!
Still really enjoyable with a great finishing hole!!
2 and half hours to play the first 9 holes
Wanted to walk off after the 3rd hole. Phoned pro shop to see if we could get money back but no answer.
One of the best in the area
First time playing this course. Live about 20 minutes away. Probably the best quality for good value course I have played. Members and staff very friendly from the get go.
Didn’t feel like there were any boring holes so didn’t feel like a slog.
Wet and muddy
Best to play in dryer conditions meant to be private club loads of kids running all over the course
Nice to play
Ground was soft but most courses have suffered that due to wet weather. Everything was open and no mats needed. Quite busy but a four ball let us through no problem. A couple of hilly holes at the back end test your fitness. An enjoyable round.
Warm welcome
First time playing here and the welcome we received could not have been better. The course was struggling a little in the wake several days of heavy rain, but the greens were generally in excellent condition. The kitchen had closed by the time we finished our round but we were directed to a suitable alternative nearby. Will play here again.
Superb greens
For an early October round Normanton is in pristine condition. The course is short at 6,300 from the blues, but the layout is interesting and well protected by bunkers and the odd pond.
Most impressive was the state of the greens, which are enormous for a course of this length. Despite a deluge of rain over the last couple of weeks they were firm and rolled beautifully.
Excellent overall
Overall a really good course, facilities and staff. The one major issue I encountered was having booked my tee off, I turned up and there was a society day on, I was told I needed to go see the club pro to resolve, however my tee time was before the pro started. After a phone call I was given a scorecard and told to go ahead, the only problem is after this hold up and there being a society day, for a good number of holes to start with I found myself rushing and my golf wasn’t where I’d usually find it, as I was being more conscious about making sure I wasn’t going to be in the way than enjoying my golf and setting up my shots properly.
Would be five star otherwise without this.
Played this course several times a year over the last few years. Very well presented course and always enjoy playing it. You don't often come accross a course with this amount of bunkers on it and the huge size of many. Just adds to the thought process when deciding whether to go over them or lay up as many of them are in my landing zone from the tee. Some short par 4s that tempt yiu to take driver but beware the many hazards that await. Risk/Reward comes to mind. Greens were fast but in very good condition. Off course facilities were very good and the staff very helpful. Paid £23 for the round which was excellent value for money. Will definitely be back
Good Experience.
Overall, very good experience would certainly recommend. Greens in good conditions and overall course layout was decent with some challenging holes both front and back 9.
